A lot of ignorant as fuck white US losers emerged online recently to try & tell false narratives about the US invasion on Vietnam. Problem with that is people like me, the survivors, are still alive. We ain't having that whitewashed BS. I won't let ignorant bigots run false narratives about my family's lived war/foreign invaders terrorism experiences. I will run their 'Murica BS trains off the rails, with my family's lived truths.

"We won the Vietnam War! We saved the Vietnamese from Communism. We needed to help them."

Da fuck. US did not win nor was that global terrorist, warmongering, war criminals filled government helping any Vietnamese citizens by carpet/cluster bombing, using us as involuntary test subjects for illegal war shit - dropping never used before munitions/biochemical warfare on us! Then, lying to US citizens about what they were doing/did to our peoples.

Vietnam stayed Communist, after US were ran out. US invaders literally had to be quickly evacuated. They had thousands of angry Vietnamese people chasing/screaming at them (my family & others also yelled: #DeathToAmerica ), throwing all sorts of stuff & physically attacking them as they ran to leave Saigon, like rats trying to get off a burning ship. Several Vietnamese were carrying machetes & screaming that they are going to chop off US soldiers' heads. These were people who lost entire family from US terrorist attacks.

I know all of this because my family was right there, in Saigon, when it happened. I was in a baby carrier on Mom's back. Dad & big Uncle threw many molotovs at US army trucks as they were trying to get to airplane. One of my other Uncles yanked a US invader, who was foolish enough to point a rifle at the citizens & then shot two unarmed civilians - straight out of a moving truck. That invader was pummeled by angry crowd. The US army driver was yanked out & given same brutal beat down treatment.

That is what happens when you invade sovereign nations & try to install foreign puppet government leaders. Eventually, the people will revolt & seize their sovereignty back. You create a lot of new enemies, every single time you violently & illegally invade sovereign nations/territories.

Our peoples were willing to die, fighting for sovereignty. US has always underestimated the love & passion that many Global South peoples have for their ancestral homelands. US still makes exact same decisions that aren't helping US unless the goal is to make the world hate you.

@PhoenixSerenity and history repeated itself when the US left Afghanistan and Iraq. And now the same us happening in Persia.

@danderzei Exactly. I'm actively countering current US warmonger supporters with my war baby survivor lived experience/my family's lived experiences. We know what happened. We were there & lived it.

US media/Western media has repeatedly tried to whitewash their global terrorism/mass war crimes against humanity.

I'm still alive to put the blood they took from my family - back. They tried to create false narratives by PR lies. I fought back into real history, by speaking my family's truths & not backing down to bigot, bullying muthafuckers. My personal strength is genetically born. I come from a long & ancient line of warriors from China & Indigenous Vietnam, who never attack first but we will defend when attacked, to the death, if needed.

@PhoenixSerenity forty years of blockbuster films about Vietnam and somehow the result still needs explaining to people. the narrative outlasted the timeline by a lot

@PhoenixSerenity

I’m wondering why the fuck they’re coming out of the woodwork but on the other hand, the war on Iran is bringing up these topics yet again.

The mass movement against Vietnam took something like 10 years to develop but today we’re living easily a generation and a half of anger widespread in the population where 18 and 20 something men march off to kill people somewhere else

@GhostOnTheHalfShell That is exactly why!
@PhoenixSerenity @AndreaChalupa warned last week that we were starting to see more Vietnam War BS because of the attack on Iran. It's almost comical when you remember the 80s and how much people still seethed over what happened and why. But whatever, we're in a constant state of redefining "victory". @GhostOnTheHalfShell

@PhoenixSerenity

If you have the time, probably not tonight, but whenever if you have some links, I’d like to actually see exactly what’s coming out of their mouths.

@GhostOnTheHalfShell I can start taking some screenshots. It's almost all on YouTube.

@PhoenixSerenity

Oh, just throw me a few channel names don’t have to do screenshots. I want to get a flavor of the kind of argument, although as I put her around making myself some late dinner I can kind of guess which way they would be going

@GhostOnTheHalfShell MEE, Break Through News, CNN, Al Jazeera (multiple channels), NBC, BBC, Channel 4 - its a massive list!

@GhostOnTheHalfShell These are the kind of comments that they are making:

@PhoenixSerenity

That’s absolutely adorable.. Somebody can’t even do a look up to figure out that Vietnam is still communist country.

I like to stick an asterix on communist government.. The concept is at least strictly speaking nonsensical. But that’s like too much politics. The US didn’t overthrow the government that’s the essential point.

@GhostOnTheHalfShell They are so freaking undereducated, it is hard to deal with.
@GhostOnTheHalfShell These type of comments are on almost every MSM channel now. Almost every time Vietnam is mentioned, some fools emerge to say some 'Murica lies/nonsense.
@GhostOnTheHalfShell I wonder how much US/Israel is spending on online trolls/bots - often.

@PhoenixSerenity It's hard to deal with uneducated dumb people :(
@ml Especially when they're being bigots to boot.
@PhoenixSerenity *Willfully* ignorant—they know what they're doing. A former tech-bro neighbor and recent masters-in-business graduate from an ivy-league school here in Greater Boston played the same faux-dumb shit with me over my COVID-cautiousness, use of they/them pronouns, etc. After a while I just started counter-trolling, i.e. he'd randomly say something positive about Elon Musk or whatever and I'd ask him if his car was the one with license plate xxx-yyy, to which he'd gulp and ask why I ask and I'd just cue a blank stare and say, "Oh nothing..."

@PhoenixSerenity

Sadly, too few Americans get to see an alternative to the US version of war history. At the war museum in HoChiMinh City (around 2010) there was a universal reaction at the exit from young US tourists: exclamations of horror and condemnation of American cruelty, frequent tears. Having seen a factual presentation of America’s desperation at losing a war.

History also tells me that the US has not won a war since 1945. Unless you count Grenada and Panama [sarcasm].

@DziadekMick We will always call it Saigon not HCMC. We supported sovereignty of Vietnam.

@DziadekMick @PhoenixSerenity

That one win in 1945 was because we joined the winning team.

A large number of Republican politicians at the time preferred to join the Nazis and tried to overthrow the US government to make that happen.

The USA is not the good guys and we never have been.

@troy_frizzell @DziadekMick @PhoenixSerenity Decades and decades of propaganda at work.
@PhoenixSerenity @troy_frizzell @DziadekMick Always hated those types of films. Blech! 🤮
@WideEyedCurious One of my male cousins (we're the same age) loved the Rambo movies. He was a big Stallone fan when younger. Not when he grew up & learned a lot more about the world, where he came from & how propaganda works in Hollywood movies.
I am in my 60s. My memory of that war kind of begin with Fall of Saigon. I knew every truth you told from carpet bombing, agent orange. From my perspective, I came of age around the time of release Apocalypse Now the movie. That movie made me dig into those truths. Never got that info from school history books. System is working as they designed it.
.
@PhoenixSerenity I watched that in real time in the US turn from a "policing action" to all-out carpet bombing, napalming, death-inducing, fiasco. At 14, I had already made plans and had connections to move to Canada. The images and video from the US leaving Sagon for the last time should show that the US did not win anything. We left with our tails between our collective legs.
@RegGuy There's still US draft dodgers living in BC, very quietly.

@PhoenixSerenity Yes, I have a few older neighbor "kids" who moved to Canada during the war. I have had occasional contact with them over the years.

I have retained my draft card because I want to burn it if we ever institute the draft here in the US again.

@RegGuy People who resist military drafts & are pro peace should not be punished but they are. It's twisted.
