if you're depressed about the state of the world right now
or you're too numb to be able to feel anything at all
it means you have a moral compass. hold on to that.
people who are cheerfully going about business as usual right now, terrify us

@PhoenixSerenity the thing about red lines
you have to decide them IN ADVANCE
it barely matters what they are, because they'll be crossed instantaneously no matter how absurd you try to make them
it matters that you go through the moral reasoning and the practical planning for what could happen, why that would be bad, and what you will do about it
before you are inundated with rhetoric from every direction about why the thing that just happened is okay, actually
@ireneista
I'm not sure if being reminded that the majority of people is missing a moral compass helps with depressions about the state of the world ;)
but you're right, of course
@ireneista I don’t need to stare at the horrors of the world 24/7 — as I have very limited influence on the course of world history, I would unnecessarily make my life worse for the benefit of no one. Call me selfish if you want but I have to appreciate the good things, try to enjoy all I can, help others, appreciate the sunset, cook good meals, take long walks.
Not falling into despair and hopelessness doesn’t mean you lack empathy. It’s an active choice and how you persevere.
@ireneista It is genuinely good to hear that.
I agree.
I blame moderation in public forums and social media, for decades now, they have justified that political content is as offensive as racism, religious fundamentalism, sexism, nationalism.
"Users" have transferred this mode of thinking in their physical life, and have become aggressive as they become a majority, against anyone who attempts to politicize any issue discussed.
Politics: the discussion and exchange of ideas and positions about what we have in common
Only #Epstein club members can discuss and decide on "politics", like if we live or we are instantly vaporized
The world of ideals and then there is the material world
What we are discussing here is the reasons for the opposition of Spain to US, trying to cut off Repsol out of the deal of ripping off the oil from Venezuela's people and handing it to corporations, nearly all US based.

Venezuela and the British multinational oil company Shell have signed an agreement outlining important opportunities in the hydrocarbon sector within Venezuelan territory. The document was signed by Venezuela's Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, the president of Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), Héctor
@ireneista I feel similarly, but I want it to be said that there is no valor in letting yourself be burned out. What use is knowing about all the evil if it makes you too despairing to do anything about it? It is therefore necessary to find or build joy wherever you can, so you can use it as a foundation for your resistance.
It is important never to let go of your moral compass as you do so, however. Devote time to grieving. Devote time to grounding. Devote time to building, refueling, pushing.
