So happy to see that #Mastodon has become a member of the W3C and is now coming to the renewed #ActivityPub standardization activity.

@j12t a bit of a newby here, what does this mean? :)
@[email protected] interesting that the WG is pursuing async discussions through IRC/Matrix/GitHub but not on fedi 🙂 (threadiverse group?)
@julian Idk what all the pros and cons are, but you could show up there and make the case :-)

@j12t @julian open to hearing about it of course.

Threadiverse as it currently exists is great for general discussion but for WG work items ("how's project A coming along?" and I only want responses from WG members) I'm not sure the tech is there for "closed group" style activity.

Mailing list might ultimately be the right choice because it's easy to configure closed-group but world-readable. On a personal level I hate email but I'm trying not to let my prejudices block me here!

@j12t @julian someone suggests that the discussion could happen in the Fediverse instead of another space, and there's an invitation to join this other space to raise this issue.

Curious reasoning!

@[email protected] 😅!

To be fair there's a parallel reply from @[email protected] about how the threadiverse at current can't support a world-readable but closed contribution group.

I'd argue that it's possible, but I haven't the proof of concept to demonstrate at this time .

Something I should work on next I suppose.

@julian @darius why not using a hashtag for the discussion?
