Ugh, suddenly my eyes (or my brain) have decided they don't like my varifocals anymore, so I'm back to using my reading glasses and regular glasses but that's so annoying. And I can't really see my computer screen with them. So I'm off to the optometrist today and will have to order new glasses. May opt for bifocals with separate glasses for my computer screen as I need to be able to see properly when on a hike (which I find varifocals not great for) but also be able to read my map without changing glasses. Getting old sucks! πŸ˜‚

Haha, my "progressive lenses" are 3 separate sets of glasses: distance, computer, and reading. Especially in my bedroom, I use all 3, the distance ones for watching #kdrama. Those and the computer glasses usually stay there, unless I walk off with one set on my head. I tried progressive lenses, and they meant that nothing was clearly visible to me. The readers are the ones that are critical. I lost a set on my way home by bus last night, and that caused a state of panic until I found a drugstore pair in my bag. Fortunately, there are online suppliers here that provide all of my glasses at a very reasonable price, including transition lenses for driving.
I was lucky enough not to need vision correction for most of my life, but that's caught up with me. I also need ointment at night and drops in the morning for one of my vision issues.
For hiking, I generally keep readers in a breast pocket, since I often need to check information on my phone.
@EllenInEdmonton My eye sight is terrible which means that I really can't see anything with my reading glasses on and I can't read anything without my reading glasses so I have opted for varifocals again. I have opted for the more expensive kind which has a much larger "corridor" which should theoretically mean I can see well up close as well as far away. I tried using my separate glasses today and it drove me nuts always have to switch out so varifocals it is again. My prescription had really changed which explains the sore eyes and headache so fingers crossed it's better with the new glasses.
@Chrissy
Ugh, those changing prescriptions are frustrating and expensive! My multiple-glasses mode suits me fine at home, especially since virtually every garment I sew has #pockets. I keep my driving glasses in my car and my computer glasses by the computer most of the time. It sounds like you require correction for midrange vision, which I don't. We rely on our vision so much!
I visited the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) to get a tutorial on accessibility options on my Apple devices because I go into panic mode when I need to read something on my phone without my reading glasses. It was helpful, and all of the devices use very similar gestures.
@Chrissy I'm still trying to figure out a better way of carrying spare eyeglasses into the backcountry in a way that they are protected from being crushed. My best solution so far has been putting them inside a Nalgene bottle, but my preferred glasses don't fit into a 500 mL Nalgene wide mouth, and a 1 L bottle is too large.
