Meta sued over AI smart glasses' privacy concerns, after workers reviewed nudity, sex, and other footage | TechCrunch

Lawyers say Meta's marketing materials promised privacy and user control over sharing footage. But an investigation found that subcontractors are reviewing footage from customers' glasses.

@zackwhittaker how the hell is anyone who wears these things having sex?

@SecureOwl @zackwhittaker the article doesn't state that it was the wearer having sex and what we know about this technology being stalker/creep adjacent, it may be safe to assume that much, if not all, of it wasn't the wearer or their partner

These things should just be banned but people walking around with facial ID cameras uploading to a friendly platform is most government's wet dream at the moment

Has anybody an idea if #FlipperZero or similar tools can be used to disturb #smartglasses or their function in general?

@zackwhittaker

Oh gosh!! And i just bet no one, absolutely no one saw this coming either, right? Cause they promised it wouldn't, right? Right??

That guy has a lot of intellectual company in this country.

@zackwhittaker Thanks for this piece of news!!

I'm wondering what's that "sensitive content" classification based on?

Even when I'm walking on the street, my personal image is a content of which I deny anybody the right to capture & record without my consent - full stop.

To separate conceptually "sensitive content" from "content that's ok to record without consent from the target" is an utterly dangerous approach.

No AI spy glasses in my neighborhood!

Put this POS in prison!

@zackwhittaker

How many times does it need to be said?

👏Stop. 👏Using. 👏Meta's. 👏Bullshit. 👏Products!

@zackwhittaker Any judge should throw this out. Anything created by Meta IS a privacy violation by definition, deal with it.
