For all of those #MARCHintosh veterans, what is the highest version of System 7 that will be compatible with A/UX? So far, I've seen it's 7.0.1, but I wonder about any of the later versions. Does 7.1 run A/UX? I don't expect 7.5 or greater to support it.
@claudiom A/UX replaces the existing system software, rather than running as a program on top of it. Akin to a PC dual-booting Linux and Windows. So if the hardware is A/UX compatible, you should be golden no matter what other system version you also have installed.
@kabootie Thanks for the info. So do I have to create a separate partition for A/UX then?
@mos_8502 When I saw it the first time I installed it as mentioned in my previous toot, it reminded me so much of what Mac OS X was then. Talk about a harbinger of an OS. @kabootie
@claudiom @mos_8502 #BlueSCSI really comes in handy for using A/UX these days. There's a ready-to-go disk image at Macintosh Garden, and it makes all the futzing with partitions and drives trivial. https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/aux-apple-unix-68k-version-301-31-update
@claudiom @mos_8502 This site is also a great starting point (or re-starting point) for A/UX: https://www.aux-penelope.com/
@kabootie Yep! Already have it bookmarked! @mos_8502
