So, I decided to give the theme another go to see if I could resolve the maximize color.

I realized today that I had corrected it on the copy that I put on my desktop and not the actual theme in .local/share/aurorae/themes. ​ After making the correction in the correct folder, it now shows a lovely green when maximized as expected. ​
