Italian News by RSSIl Tempo: Aurigemma (Lazio): "Prevenzione obesità non è un costo ma un investimento"
Roma, 5 mar. (Adnkronos Salute) - “Con la legge approvata a ottobre l'Italia è il primo Paese al mondo ad aver riconosciuto l'obesità come malattia cronica. Non è una questione estetica ma una condizione che può aprire la strada a molte altre patologie che incidono, nel tempo, sia sulla qualità della vita delle persone sia sulla sostenibilità dei sistemi sanitari”. Per questo “la prevenzione non può essere considerata un costo da tagliare, ma un investimento: chi è obeso ha maggiori probabilità di sviluppare diabete o problemi cardiovascolari, con conseguenze importanti sia per la salute dei cittadini sia per i costi del sistema sanitario”. Lo ha detto Antonello Aurigemma, presidente del Consiglio regionale del Lazio, intervenendo al convegno ‘Obesità, una malattia cronica: il ruolo della Regione Lazio tra prevenzione, cura e lotta allo stigma', che si è svolto oggi a Roma.
Nel suo intervento, il presidente del Consiglio regionale ha ricordato come l'iniziativa riunisca diversi attori coinvolti nel contrasto alla patologia: associazioni dei pazienti, ordini professionali, medici di medicina generale, mondo della ricerca, farmacisti, rappresentanti del settore sportivo e della promozione dei corretti stili di vita, oltre alle organizzazioni del comparto agroalimentare. Aurigemma ha inoltre ricordato il ruolo del Parlamento nell'approvazione della normativa, ringraziando i promotori della legge e sottolineando il lavoro dell'intergruppo che si è costituito, sul tema, anche nel Consiglio regionale del Lazio. “L'obiettivo - ha spiegato - è proseguire nel percorso avviato con la legge e sviluppare iniziative concrete sul territorio. Tra queste rientra anche un progetto sperimentale” che è stato illustrato nel corso dell'incontro che “potrebbe essere il primo progetto sperimentale che parte in Italia dopo l'approvazione della legge”, ha concluso, evidenziando l'importanza di rafforzare la collaborazione tra istituzioni, professionisti sanitari e associazioni per affrontare in modo strutturato il tema dell'obesità.

Rome, March 5 (Adnkronos Salute) - “With the law passed in October, Italy is the first country in the world to recognize obesity as a chronic disease. This is not an aesthetic issue but a condition that can lead to many other pathologies that, over time, affect both the quality of life of people and the sustainability of healthcare systems.” For this reason, “prevention cannot be considered a cost to be cut, but an investment: obese people are more likely to develop diabetes or cardiovascular problems, with important consequences for the health of citizens and for the costs of the healthcare system.” This was stated by Antonello Aurigemma, President of the Regional Council of Lazio, speaking at the conference ‘Obesity, a chronic disease: the role of the Region of Lazio between prevention, care and the fight against stigma', which took place today in Rome.
In his intervention, the President of the Regional Council recalled how the initiative brings together various actors involved in combating the pathology: patient associations, professional orders, general practitioners, the research world, pharmacists, representatives of the sports sector and the promotion of healthy lifestyles, as well as organizations in the agro-food sector. Aurigemma also recalled the role of Parliament in approving the legislation, thanking the promoters of the law and highlighting the work of the intergroup that was also established in the Regional Council of Lazio on this topic. “The goal – he explained – is to continue the path started with the law and to develop concrete initiatives on the territory. This includes a pilot project” that was presented during the meeting that “could be the first pilot project to start in Italy after the approval of the law,” he concluded, emphasizing the importance of strengthening collaboration between institutions, healthcare professionals and associations to address the issue of obesity in a structured way.
