Kristi Noem Misled Congress About Top Aide’s Role in DHS Contracts

Testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Noem denied that Corey Lewandowski had any role in approving contracts. But internal DHS records and interviews with current and former agency staffers contradict her testimony.

ProPublica
@ProPublica and by "mislead" you mean "lied" under oath. That is quite literally the definition of perjury. United States Code, title 18, section 1001
@ProPublica lying is the second nature of every creature in the Trump Administration.

@ProPublica

so, lying under oath GOT IT

The Problem of Monopolies & Corporate Public Corruption

Defining corruption as the exercise of public power for private, selfish ends, many theorists have argued that individuals can be corrupt even if their actions are legal. This essay explores the knotty question of when legal corporate action is corrupt. It argues that when corporations exercise public power, either through monopolistic control of a market or through campaign contributions and support of governmental actors, they are subject to the same responsibilities of anyone who exercises public power. Therefore, as a theoretical matter, we should call corporations corrupt when they exercise public power selfishly, in a way that puts their own interests over the public’s interests. Because they make legal corporate corruption less likely, global anticorruption campaigns should therefore emphasize antimonopoly laws and campaign finance laws.

@ProPublica

I just really hope someone's documenting this & takes criminal action if we ever restore democracy. Every one of these people lie under oath, & they don't care bc they know there are no consequences. At least 4 of our Supreme Court Justices perjured themselves during Senate confirmation hearings

if we restore our country, let's clean house & lock all of this fascist regime away in alligator alcatraz

get them all under oath, because they will 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 lie

@WorldTravelerAll7 I agree up to the point of 'Alligator Alcatraz'. Stooping to their brutality only makes us just as bad. If you can't be better than those you oppose, what's the point?

@wesdym alligator alcatraz is perfectly adequate accommodations for criminals. they have said so themselves🤷‍♂️

sending criminals to jail isn't brutality, nor is it what this fascist regime is doing. but the point is to completely remove them from society & make the world a better place😤

i do not consider fascists to be covered by the social contract. i don't care what happens to them. personally i'd like to send all 77M maga to epstein island & let the hunger games begin 😁 💙

@WorldTravelerAll7 Congratulations. Now you're as evil as the people you despise.

Grow the fuck up already.

i get tired of weak-willed, lily-livered liberals who cry that i'm being mean to the nazis, so i'm no better than them

sure i am. i'm not a nazi. nor am i a useless wuss😒

@ProPublica Those angry that "lied" was not used here do not understand how law works. "Lie" is an allegation which must be provable by verifiable evidence in a court of law, in case you're challenged on it. Short of that, it's an invitation to potentially costly lawsuit. Ask Gawker about that. While public figures are much more vulnerable to accusation, legally, accusers must still be prepared to back up claims with evidence.

Those about to argue about this also don't know how evidence works.

@wesdym @ProPublica and yet papers do it all the time...
