So let’s talk about #Texas, and #primaries and interference. I’ll admit that maybe it’s sour grapes, as I love Jasmine, and I feel she was done dirty by Colbert first, and the TX #GOP Supreme Court, who absolutely interfered with the vote in her home county second. That said, I will support #Talarico as the candidate, but I do it with the full recognition of the racism at play.

Some other interesting news, Sen #Cornyn will have to face a runoff with Ken #Paxton. Both of them are horrible humans, but I hope Paxton wins because he’ll be easier to beat in the general. Cornyn is a powerhouse with a lot of industry support, because he’s never met a lobbyist he wouldn’t suck off.

Al Green is in danger of losing his seat, it’s gone to a runoff. His opponent is a pretty awesome young dude, and #Green is 80, so... young electorate could go either way.

Dan #Crenshaw lost his seat. This pleases me. #Dems did pretty well, all #gerrymandering considered.

@MissConstrue All this. But with important clarifications:

It was 💯 the GOP that made the mess in Dallas. Their goal was chaos, not to throw the election to Talarico.

The GOP also gerrymandered Crockett out of her current district.

Crockett might have picked up more votes otherwise in Dallas, but prob not enuf to win outright.

Crenshaw losing was not a good thing. Toth will eclipse MTG as the most ridiculous ultra MAGA in the House. (OTOH, maybe that IS a good thing?)

@thegaffer yeah, my thinking is, if the base turned on Crenshaw, they aren’t going to vote for Toth in the general. And even if they do, he won’t have any power as a newcomer, and he’ll be isolated as maga fails. Mostly tho, I just really despise Crenshaw. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@MissConstrue I think the MAGA base will be all in for Toth, TBH. The same district just voted to keep their Republican County Judge (and a disgraced pastor) Mark Keough, who was sued for sexual assault on a church staff member and who also ran his vehicle into the back of a stopped constable's car while he was DWI.

This district boasts of being the "reddest county in Texas". Truthfully, it's like living in MAGA crazy town.

@thegaffer Wow. I'm out in the country, but it's a little more sane.

@MissConstrue It's kinda depressing to think that they voted for Toth instead of Crenshaw because...

Crenshaw. Wasn't. MAGA. Enough.

Let that sink in for a minute.

@thegaffer Yeah...that's kinda scary.
@thegaffer although, lest we panic, this was a gop only primary. I haven’t dug into how many votes were cast on the Dem side, or what their stats look like re primary vs general...but there’s still a chance the Dem takes that seat because gerrymandering.
@MissConstrue I've met the Dem challenger for this race and, though he's a nice guy, I don't believe that he's up to the task. He certainly doesn't have the name recognition, and I think Toth will absolutely destroy him with all sorts of completely baseless claims. And overall, the Dem primary votes in the county were only about 28% of the total.
