Obama meets with Talarico in Texas
Former President Barack Obama has met with U.S. candidate James Talarico in Texas, backing a campaign seen by Democrats one of their best chances of winning in the conservative state. It's still an uphill battle. On Tuesday, Obama lunched with Talarico and Democratic state Rep. Gina Hinojosa at a taco shop in Austin. Talarico will face the winner of a May 26 GOP runoff between Ken Paxton and John Cornyn. Hinojosa is running to unseat Texas' Republican Gov. Greg Abbott. Obama's support boosts the candidate's profiles as they try to turn two statewide seats in Texas blue.
