Yesterday there was an all hands meeting at my company to say that we're going "AI first".
The aim is to get everybody really leaning in on LLM tools, and a working group set up to start researching new workflows and sharing them for everybody to use....

So the end of April will be my last day.

I'm planning to start actually selling some of the hardware synthesisers I've designed, as well as picking up bits and pieces of freelance work.
Hit me up if you want noises made or circuits soldered.

@rumblesan the company's loss is our gain!
You'll get an email next year asking if you're available to clear up the vibe coded mess :)
@synte I look forward to it. Always ready for a good laugh hahaha
@rumblesan @synte To which you can answer, yes, at a price (freelance rate plus inconvenience fee)

@UkeleleEric @rumblesan @synte
Don't forget hazard pay

Compared to tech debt made by humans, cleaning up messes generated but AI is like exposing yourself to toxic waste

@rumblesan @synte
Hopefully people will have stopped calling it "sloppy seconds" by then.
@rumblesan oh shit, sorry to hear AI invaded your workplace. Good luck with the synth adventure.

@hellocatfood I mean, I work in a machine learning team so it was really only a matter of time hah. There were other factors arround how much of a shit show various things are, but this was really the straw that broke the camels back in the end.

Btw, I hope you're ready to be a guinea pig for various synth bits. I have an idea for some video stuff that refuses to go away so may have to see the light of day in a year ๐Ÿ˜…

@rumblesan happy to help if I can! I can also point you to other folks who have open sourced their video modules if it helps.

I'm actually hoping to get into audio modular by the end of the year so may need your help on that

@hellocatfood @sarahghp don't worry youre obviously on the list of testers as well. I'll need people i can rely on to give brutally honest feedback and there's nobody I'd trust more than you for that hahaha
@rumblesan sorry to hear that. interesting time to go AI first, feels like the momentum is almost gone ๐Ÿคž
@vegemitepumpkin the hype is still very much real in certain quarters unfortunately. Thankfully it seems to only be in some sections of the tech sector and with any luck it'll die once people lose enough money
@rumblesan That sucks ๐Ÿ˜ž but I'm interested to learn more about the synth work you're doing! And if you were local I'd rope you into helping fix my bass amp ... a loose volume dual pole var resistor I've tried to repair five times and just mangle it ๐Ÿ˜ but hardware synths are awesome. Have you seen the Behringer JN-80?
@rumblesan if you're gonna solder circuits, wanna put in your post/profile whereabouts in the world you are for the great unwashed who haven't met you before?
@rumblesan come hang out here and do weird shit!
@mewo2 possibly, but I'm not being responsible for sorting out the electronics stock in the PM studio workshop
@rumblesan Show me your synths. ๐ŸŽ›๏ธ๐ŸŽน๐Ÿ‘€
@rumblesan Excited to see what emerges from all this.
@rumblesan I do not understand why companies are doing this. "AI First" and making AI usage a metric for performance bonuses, etc. Why? What's the drive? *shrugs*
@rumblesan Are you me? My work made the same decision at the same time. Sadly I'm not in a position to leave but will be keeping my eyes out for opportunities.
