I have a crap old TV and my mates all have swanky smart ones. But the smarts mean they are 20-90s behind live matches. So in the group chat I am a genius with my comments because I see the future.

@fesshole That delay is down to how they're watching, not that they're necessarily using a smart TV.

Watching DTT (via an aerial, aka Freeview) on a smart TV isn't significantly more delayed than watching it on a dumb TV. Watching anything from a streamer (iPlayer, NowTV etc.), however, will be very delayed.

@gilester45 @fesshole

there's a variation of a maybe 0,25 - 0,5s lag between DTT TV sets all in the same building (I noticed it when I worked on maintenance in a senior home and there was sportsball or something else popular that everyone was watching in their rooms and I was walking down the corridors), but for whole seconds delay thats more likely due to streaming services..

@fesshole
Or just use the radio and you are always faater

@fesshole

I've always preferred to get my sporting news directly from the ticker tape machine.

@fesshole This is such a quintessentially British observation. 😂 On a side note, it's also not a fess.
@fesshole same with analog vs digital ota feed via antenna when digital was new in usa
@fesshole guess you can't have both a smart user and a smart appliance… 🤷
@fesshole have you ever considered making facts up just so they get to experience tremendous relief?
