The strait of Hormuz is not fully closed, but probably in practice it is for commercial shipping. No doubt some ships will pass/get through but with the high risks and insurance probably becoming impossible, the transits will be minimal. Together with the strikes on oil producing facilities in Gulf states, oil prices will rise probably.
Iran will strike as broadly as possible in the Gulf region to make defence as hard as possible.

@ErikJonker @geopolitics it's similar to #SuezCanal #redsea with #houthies . not "officially" closed, but should think twice before you pass through it. problem with #gulf is, while [some] oil can be rerouting through pipes ...etc, gulf countries rely heavily on the waterway via #Hormuz for imports of their food & other goods. the current situation leaves only one operable port ( #Salalah in #Oman), while the other port (#duqm) was hit earlier by #iran . gulf states are practically under siege
