If Apple drops a budget 13-inch A-series MacBook next week, are you buying one? What would you use it for?
@BasicAppleGuy Plugging it to my monitor, use it as a Chromebook, or plugging into monitor to use as a Chromebook
@BasicAppleGuy depends on how it holds up to my M1 MacBook Air
@fuchsiii @BasicAppleGuy if it has the processor expected, then it’s slightly more powerful than the M1, but we don’t know about screen etc.
@BasicAppleGuy mostly studies. Minecraft maybe?

@BasicAppleGuy Probably not buying one. My MBP14/M1P is still good for a couple more years and doesn’t break my back in my backpack, so …

Maybe if I were ready to go back to the 2-Mac life, with a Mac mini or iMac at home and this as an extension of that, but that’s not really where I am anymore.

@BasicAppleGuy Depending on pricing, I might be tempted. Could be my travel system... a role currently filled by an iPad Air with Magic Keyboard.
@BasicAppleGuy Had this been available last year, I might have.

@BasicAppleGuy Not for me personally, but I could see this becoming one of the de facto "work computer" contenders

Should be plenty for knowledge workers and the like

@BasicAppleGuy I want a 15in Macbook Pro 😩

Who uses 13"? Ants?!

I'm on a 14" MBP and it feels like a basketball player driving a Mini.(16in was too pricey)

@BasicAppleGuy It would be the shared house computer, kept in the living room for my wife or I to use when the phone and iPad aren't best suited for something we want to do. Whether we buy one or not depends on the price.
@BasicAppleGuy From what I’ve read so far? No! Too less for too much money. I would go for a used M1 rather than a new budget one 🤷‍♂️
@BasicAppleGuy I would only buy it, if I’m sure that Tim doesn’t buy more golden trophies for Trump or movie tickets from Melania from that money.
@BasicAppleGuy Replacement for my 2018 MBP which is in really, really rough shape. My Mac mini M4 is my daily machine, but even though I'm not freelancing anymore I do find I need a portable more than I thought.
@BasicAppleGuy If it’s like the MacBook 12“, definitely. I don’t care about the „budget“ but for the weight and size. I would use it for everything when I’m on the go. Assuming it’s actually a Mac and not an iPad.
@helge @BasicAppleGuy My 12” MacBook — which still sees occasional use, even as slow and limited as it is — is one of my favourite computers I’ve ever owned.
@BasicAppleGuy I continue to hold out hope that someone in the chain of command will realize PowerBook is such a better brand name than “MacBook Pro” and they announce all their pro laptops are going back to that name.
@BasicAppleGuy While it doesn’t interest me much, I imagine my wife would be interested in one.
@BasicAppleGuy To replace my iPad as my primary mobile device…
@BasicAppleGuy Nah. Still have my old 2015 MBP when I want a Mac, and I moved my daily driving to Linux a couple years ago. Apple doesn’t have a cost/feature profile to attract me anymore.
@BasicAppleGuy I'm already caught up in the Apple universe, so I'm not interested in the bait.
@BasicAppleGuy Yup! Laptop for my youngest who is finally old enough for his own
