Friends, I’m seeking ideas for small ways to treat myself that are not food-related. Think “I did the hard errands so now I’ll grab a donut” but replace “donut” with a similarly priced non-food/drink. Suggestions?
@Punzie Stickers, stationery (I’m a sucker for a good pen), makeup if that’s something you do, patches for a battle jacket, anything you can find at Make & Mend, a bath bomb or other bathing product, lip balm, a new book or CD from the library, a tiny houseplant, nicer hand lotion, a different flavor of toothpaste, a bouquet of flowers?
@Punzie Buy a feel-good song you don't own each time, the first one that comes to mind, no matter how cheesy, and make a playlist to dance victoriously to while singing the choruses with a raised fist.
@Punzie maybe collectables because you get the kick from filling out a collection.
I often treat myself by buying inexpensive computer games (which I frequently don't end up playing :P)
@Punzie "now I'll grab a few minutes doing that thing that I love doing (craft, hobby, walk/hike/bike, writing, playing music/singing, meditating, doing your nails, taking a bubble bath...)"

@Punzie

If there's no one else in your environment, smells can be a positive sensory input. Open a bottle of favorite perfume briefly?

Or there's "put on a song you like, dance around while it plays".

@Punzie a scent? I had a little roll-on lavender scent that I used to use to give myself a little moment of calm. Or light a scented candle?

Or maybe something plush you can hug?

I also used to get up and step out into my garden between tasks, back when I had a garden. I was doing it while the kettle boiled, but you can still go look at plants and get sunshine without the tea.

@Punzie hmm, the nice thing about food is that it is consumable and so doesn’t accumulate. I’d go for small things like stickers, fun postage stamps, bits of ribbon or trim or buttons, art prints for the wall, or things that get used up like ink samples, soap samples, bath/shower bombs, nail polish, postcards/greeting cards (if you commit to sending them)
