🚨 New Video: YubiKey 5 Review - Security Essential or Overpriced?

The "Industry Standard" is usually a warning sign.

In this video, we are looking at the YubiKey 5 NFC and 5C NFC. These are arguably the best engineered security keys on the planet. They are injection molded, "violence-proof," and they work with just about everything. But for those of us in the Linux and FOSS community, they present a problem.

Can you trust a security tool if you aren't allowed to see how it works?

YubiKey 5 Review - Security Essential or Overpriced?

YouTube

@terminaltilt I have a yubikey, but it's only a backup for my solo V2; open source alternatives exist with that one and NitroKey's offerings, which shares the solo firmware

Apologies if that's in the video, I didn't watch it on mobile

@IncredibleLaser

Yep, my biggest problem is with the proprietary nature of the Yubikey. My next video in the series will be a look at the Nitrokey 3A NFC followed by a couple of Token2's keys.
