Looks like Palantir may have fallen into the Streisand trap;

in seeking their right to reply (under Swiss media law) via the courts, they have drawn a lot more attention to two articles (based on Freedom of Information requests) that reveal why the Swiss state refused to do a deal with Palantir for some military software; they were worried data would be obtained by the US Govt.

Now a story, originally limited to the Swiss is gaining traction across Europe; oops.

@ChrisMayLA6 good, they need to be exposed as the security breach, genocide enabling monsters that they are. And hopefully get booted off the NHS too.
Edit: added the word “monsters”
@ChrisMayLA6 They're in a number of Swiss headquartered companies (e.g. Novartis )so it's interesting to see how this pans out.

@ChrisMayLA6 the real story is the Swiss were not corrupted, whereas the British government gave Palantir a number of sweetheart contracts without even competitive bidding.

In a twist you couldn’t make up if you tried, the head of Palantir UK is Louis Mosley, grandson of Oswald Mosley, founder of the British Union of Fascists.

@fazalmajid @ChrisMayLA6 that does put things in perspective
@fazalmajid @ChrisMayLA6 And Louis Mosley is the cousin of Jed Mosley, star of the movie The Wedding Bride: https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Jed_Mosely
Jed Mosely

Jed Mosely is the main antagonist of The Wedding Bride franchise, which is a fictional franchise within the sitcom, How I Met Your Mother. The Wedding Bride is a fictional version of events that happened to Ted Mosby, Stella Zinman, and Tony Grafanello, with Jed being a fictionalized, villainized version of Ted. Jed Mosely was portrayed by Chris Kattan, who also voiced Werner Werman in The Cuphead Show! and King Zongo in Jake and the Never Land Pirates. Within the show How I Met Your Mother...

@fazalmajid @ChrisMayLA6 I was actively involved in one of those bidding processes against Palantir at NHS, and they lost in almost every measurable way but still got the contract. Not surprised that a company that collects intelligence on everyone and everything was able to get some leverage, but we were disappointed nonetheless. We thought we could make a dent.
@wcbdata @ChrisMayLA6 some of those decisions were taken personally by Starmer, or more likely by McSweeney sock-puppeting Starmer. That's why I laugh when lazy journalists write the Mandelson scandal call Starmer's integrity in question. He long ago demonstrated he has none.

Peter Thiel's data surveillance company Palantir is powering Trump's ICE operation in the US. Carole Cadwalladr argues that the UK will be next

The Nerve

@schuga @ChrisMayLA6 ‘This company should be nowhere near any UK government department, let alone our NHS and nuclear weapons. We have handed control of the most important and vital instruments of state to what amounts to a hostile foreign power.’ #Palantir

Is Labour in too deep to escape from the takeover by U.S. techno fascists? The fascist cults MAGA and Reform already believe they’ve won. I reckon they are too few and the feedback from their inflation, purges, illegal arrests, assassinations, genocides, ecocide and wars will be a rude awakening. The people of the U.S. and the U.K. will rise up; greedy loser cowards hell bent on trashing Earth will be defeated! #FreedomFromFascists

@Dialectician @schuga @ChrisMayLA6

A Palantir investor call was leaked about a week ago if you want some insight into what they're about from the horse's mouth.

The only question I had walking away is why the CEO was in his underwear, everything else was pretty transparent.

Meanwhile, this is the official (🤦‍♂️) UK position… 🤬

@ChrisMayLA6
Yup. Though my first reaction was a little less printable!
How tenaciously Palantir courted Switzerland

The controversial tech company Palantir provides surveillance technology. In Switzerland, however, its pitches have been rejected.

Republik
@mveron Thank you! I qalways prefer posts with original sources as links for boosting. @ChrisMayLA6 @adfichter @republik_magazin

@mveron @ChrisMayLA6 @adfichter @republik_magazin ‘Critics accuse the company of taking mass surveillance and automated warfare to a new level with its software – facilitated by a lack of regulation and a disregard for human rights. Palantir itself openly acknowledges that its tools are meant to “optimize the kill chain” in modern warfare (see info box).’ Quote from the article on #Palantir

Too soft: why not Palantir is a fascist collaboration of Ultras determined to protect their totalitarian world order; just to serve their programme of ecocide by mass surveillance, extreme violence, assassinations, war and terror?

@ChrisMayLA6 This has been in the Swiss press. Striking to see their concern about their security and confidentiality.
@ChrisMayLA6 How unfortunate! (for some)

@ChrisMayLA6

If only the original articles were linked.

@VictimOfSimony

see thread for link to the Republic article - I never put in FT links as they are behind a paywall

There are methods a Jedi might find disturbing.

@ChrisMayLA6

They'll just use their algorithms to identify and explode another "drug" ship as a distraction and everything will be back on track in a jiffy.

@ChrisMayLA6 please do just hold a minute while I find my violin!

Just be careful with archive.ph cos it serves malicious code, tampers with web snapshots, and the owner threatens bloggers he doesn't like with A.I. generated revenge porn

@adamsaidsomething Wow, that is very surprising to me! It has been such a useful tool, for many I expect.

Thanks for sharing this. I will have to decide whether to continue using it.

@Miro_Collas @ChrisMayLA6

Surprising to many folks!

@adamsaidsomething
I switched to archive.org - that also has web browser plugins to make it easy to get links :-)

@adamsaidsomething Is archive-today the same as archive-ph?

@Miro_Collas @ChrisMayLA6

@NatureMC

Yeah archive.today is the same as archive.ph, archive.is, archive.to, and a few more alternate domains. Not to be confused with archive.org

@ChrisMayLA6 Good. Palantir is a corrupting and malignant influence, and Peter Thiel never, never passes up a chance to throw in with Fascists.
@ChrisMayLA6 i mean what country with a thread of dignity would entrust it's national secrets to a fascist mercenary org like that?
