Idk what state this person is in (and it matters because I think the state does the initial medical review) but I also thinks it helps to go without a lawyer until you need an appeal. I was too sick (not covid, but MECFS) to do all the paperwork to apply so I used a lawyer and it didn’t help at all. They sent me their paperwork which wasn’t much less than than the SSAs & since they only get paid from backpay it’s in their best interest if I don’t get approved immediately so that there’s more back pay.
