@evacide I also want to point out that to "zero out crime", as the Ring CEO called it, may sound desirable, but only police states have zero crime.

In an open and free democratic society there is always an inevitable base floor of crime.

@evacide It's basically the ones they have in shopping centres since early to mid last year, maybe earlier, but now on the streets. I don't even think they've been effective, other then being a privacy issue for many, including myself. I cover my bank card with my entire hand, so the AI can't steal my numbers. It's sad I'm not allowed to wear a balaclava while shopping.

I promptly ended my Ring subscription when Amazon announced it was turning on face-scanning on them last December. I live in NY and my apartment building is majority immigrants from Africa and the Dominican Republic. Everyone has Amazon packages delivered daily. No, you will not get me to use my camera for surveillance on any of them. And the pet scanning was super sus.
