Red OakHumbly requesting stories about something you've done / are doing lately to withdraw support from the death cult and/or create alternatives for yourself and others. Nothing is too small, or too imperfect, or too late; i just need a little positive energy of this particular flavor to feel less alone and angry today.
Stephen Collins@redoak @stufromoz in the last several years I have:
- stopped buying from Amazon and sought local alternatives
- stripped back use of Google-, X/Grok-, and Meta-owned things to a bare minimum (retained only to keep in touch with people who can't or don't want to shift) and replaced them with services like @homeassistant, @kagihq, @Mastodon, and @fastmail
- cancelled accounts at Paramount Plus, Prime Video, DAZN, Spotify
- chosen to repair tools, tech, and other things where I can, rather than throwing away; also, passing things I no longer use on to others that can
It's not much, but it's something.
