When I say "I hate AI", I mean #AI driven #LLM that produce endless streams of slop

I hate AI in it's current form

There are ways that would benefit humanity drastically with improving AI but the goals are wrong

We need to create cures against a LOT of diseases, support people with disabilities, find a better way to combat poverty, solve complicated equations and on and on..

At it's current form it's eating and hogging resources doing things humans want to do

They made me hate it

Real AI could have many beneficial uses... if it was developed and used ethically. It's not the tech that's the problem so much as the humans exploiting everyone for profit and surveillance. 😕

1. Elon Musk, the Nazi

2. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, & UAE, messing with every democracy with the gall to ditch their planet-frying products

3. Koch Network, wants a White Supremacist Constitution so, so badly

4. Andreessen, anti-humanity advocate

5. Peter Thiel, working to create the apocalypse all day, every day

6. Larry Ellison, addicted to self-enrichment though ubiquitous surveillance

7. Putin, Xi, ending America

@stonebear2 @stux I’m not raining on your perspective but I suggest that the AI don’t kill your career, the greedy oligarchs did, when they fell for the dream of massive profits with reduced staff.

It’s a lie of course, AI can’t replace humans for most things, but the job cuts are already real, and damaging families. Recovery will be painful.

I would say both is true. Tech-bros created AI, which ensnared other tech-bros who thought it was Real Magic, not enslavement of the masses, and *those* tech-bros killed my career, personally.

Recovery won't be *as* painful in the EU, as EUstack starts hiring people to build the stacks to replace Amerikaanse BigTech. I don't envy the folks who are under the thrall of that same BigTech and their political puppets.

@stux as you probably know, there are many forms of AI apart from the LLM’s we both hate so much. My son for instance helped develop AI to recognize breast cancer tissue faster than doctors could. So maybe we should leave AI out of the phrase and properly call it LLM or ChatGPT (which is almost a type name by now)
LLM and TTI are the only ones that eat that many resources, as far as I know

@ernstdemoor @stux I’d been searching for such a phrase, and LLM (Large Language Model) is a bit too wordy and technical. I discovered “agentic AI”, which maybe isn’t technically a 1:1 replacement, but seems to do the job most of the time.

@ernstdemoor @stux most people, in this country anyway, wouldn't know the difference between an algorithm someone built to do what your son did and asking ChatGPT to create a picture an actual artist would take years to paint. It's insanity.

@stux I love AI as a technology but the way it's used is a complete waste.
Use LLM for mundane but beneficial tasks? Nah, generate sloppy images and post them on the internet as your artwork for internet points

@stux yeah, I think AI will potentially be transformative, but not LLMs. The really interesting and most impactful AI is more the models that are fed on really specific and high quality data for things like finding cures to cancer or new antibiotics. Advanced and rapid analysis of huge piles of good quality data, to whittle it down for human experts to then focus their research and skill on is what computers are good at. Not LLMs which are just plagiarised auto complete slop generators!
