@ai6yr This is why trump likes John Deere I bet.

He just loves any kind of nefarious grifter and dystopian behavior.

As long as it is doesn't hurt him ofc.

@ai6yr where do I get this poster?

@ai6yr
Love the "Repair is war on entropy"!
Keep telling this my kids in regard to tiding up... ๐Ÿ’ฅ

@ai6yr This poster is on the wall of my workshop.
@BoloMKXXVIII @ai6yr I also have the big sticker on the wall in mine.

@ai6yr

Just have to share one little push-back against #entropy ...

I recently laundered a beloved old fleece jacket and the zipper-pull mysteriously broke. I was able to "sew" it back on using a series of figure-eight stitches locked in with a few knots. So satisfying! ๐Ÿ™‚

#Repair #Sewing

@nickrauchen Yay! btw, if you ever need to replace that entirely, the pulls are standard, as well, and can be purchased separately (which I just learned). You have to of course undo-the bottom and re-sew it all if you do replace the zip itself, but it's really quite simple and straightforward (and no need to replace the zipper teeth at all).

@ai6yr

Makes sense that the 'pull' is replaceable (with a bit of effort). ๐Ÿ™‚

I have some larger zipper's that came on a roll with 10-12 pulls. You just cut the zipper part to length and then sew it in (after adding a pull to that segment). Pretty flexible. Thanks!

@nickrauchen Yeah, exactly that! Apologies if you know all of this, I only figured that out a few months ago when I made some patio cushions, and was amazed that you could make zippers of any length and you could basically assemble the zipper and pull, without having to buy exactly the right zipper length/etc.

@ai6yr

Not at all. All new to me in the last year. I mostly experiment with "gear" and have been thinking of getting a more heavy duty sewing machine. Mine is too "dainty" for what I like to do.

One very odd thing (to me at least) is lightweight webbing (like that on ID badges). All the webbing I order is heavy and not supple. I've actually collected "extra" badge holders to cannibalize the webbing on small projects... like putting a button loop on a hammock.

@nickrauchen I am very satistfied with my vintage singer because of how heavy duty it is!

@ai6yr

My Sister got my Mom's old Singer. I'm not jealous at all... ๐Ÿ˜‰

@ai6yr โ€œwarranty void if removedโ€-stickers annoy me so hard. I feel the irresistible urge to remove them even harder. (Also, cause legally they hold no value where I liveโ€ฆ)
