CarolynThis was the first snowy owl I had ever seen, making it indeed a superb owl. :)
Another very superb owl: I was standing on a path next to a marsh when a bird from down the way started flying towards me. As I stood transfixed, the barred owl landed on a branch of a tree just on the other side of the path!!! This isn't my best barred owl shot, but it was my first one. :)
This superb owl was sitting on a branch only about a foot above the ground.
I took the long-eared owl shot in the previous post early in the morning while entering the Leslie Spit, being quick enough to not draw attention to it, people being what they are. On the way out, many, many hours later, the owl was still there, now with a hoard of people surrounding it. Above the fray, unnoticed by anyone by me, a short-eared owl was making a flyby.
