Good morning and a morning mystery. Not sure what animal or bird made these very uniform tracks through the back yard. #Photography #Today #Winter #Chicago
@WarnerCrocker No experience in biology or knowledge of the local area, but my guess would be a lizard or similar reptile running on it's hind legs. They certainly are fascinating tracks.
@macattackmicmac Been too cold for most reptiles I think. Even so, we don't usually see many of those in these parts.

@WarnerCrocker

Turtle? But in the winter?

@WarnerCrocker

Search for "turtle tracks" it checks out.

@Bette I did. Don''t think it lines up with the weather. Besides, the tracks just stop mysteriously, and start mysteriously, which made me think birds, but that doesn't check out either.

@WarnerCrocker

I guess a bird could check out if it was wounded and was dragging itself across the yard with its wings, then got scooped up by the predator who started the job. Maybe

@WarnerCrocker I’m guessing bun rabbit if not birb. In either case it was a hopper and tail dragger.

Squirrel!
