In Spending Talks, Senators Clash Over Immigration Crackdown

Democrats’ push to rein in federal agents, and Republican opposition, reflect opposite views of whether the deportation drive should be bound by standard law enforcement rules.

But as the bipartisan talks get underway before a Feb 13 deadline, #Republicans are already balking at many of #Democrats’ proposals. Those include unmasking agents, requiring that they wear visible identification & mandating #judicial warrants.

@Nonilex Unmasking agents is table stakes at this point. Opening the government again while allowing anonymous masked secret police with battlefield gear to be deployed against american citzens is political malpractice.

@Nonilex We don't have to care what the GOP thinks, right is right.

Democrats need to plant their feet and declare "absolutely no more".

There is nothing to be won by appeasement, they will renege on every deal and betray every good turn you do for them. Give the GOP nothing as a permanent policy.

@Nonilex In fairness, those proposals ARE unreasonable. The reasonable proposal would be to eliminate those agencies altogether.
