This is the most dystopian thing I've seen all week, and I'm living in 2026 America so that's *saying something*

RentAHuman.ai - AI Agents Hire Humans for Physical Tasks

The marketplace where AI agents rent humans. MCP integration, REST API, flexible payments. Book humans for real-world tasks your AI can't do.

RentAHuman.ai

@kyleford Uhmmm...

Here's a much older site that does the same thing: https://www.mturk.com/

Amazon Mechanical Turk

@kyleford

Reverse centaur as a service.

RCaaS.

Did not see that coming, or have it on my bingo card.

I mean, it is basically Task Rabbit, with an extra layer of disintermediation inserted between "hiring manager" who funded the bot wallet, and the doer, with the extra wrinkle that the tasks being requested are whatever fell out of the next token machine.

@kyleford wow, a "be the human to take the blame" service
@kyleford OMG. “The Meatspace Layer for AI.” Women are used to being treated like pieces of meat. How do you men like it?

@kyleford It's a transparent psy-op too.

Like those fake job listings every job market is stuffed with.

Bullshit from end to end.

Hint: "AI Agents" don't actually exist. It's just chatbots with a name change.

@kyleford I have hard time believe this is real and not a (way too much) elaborated joke.
@kyleford I'm pretty sure this is what @pluralistic was talking about when he used the term Reverse Centaur. Now I'm picturing a world where people accomplish random inscrutable tasks in the real world dictated by AI slop bots and they have no way of knowing what they just did. Isn't this part of the plot of the Severance TV show? Please, don't create the Torment Nexus

@flpdisk @kyleford @pluralistic the Work is mysterious and important.
@flpdisk @kyleford @pluralistic as a reverse-centaur, you’re at least employed. This is serfdom.
@flpdisk @kyleford @pluralistic Fairly sure that was the entirety of the final season of Person of Interest.
@kyleford
Step 1: Take a job from rentahuman.ai
Step 2: Do nothing or do it intentionally wrong.
Step 3: Report it ready.
Step 4: If the AI complains, say thanks for pointing out your mistake and repeat indefinitely from Step 2.
@kyleford « meatspace tasks » I can’t with these clowns 🙃
@kyleford I do not understand.. is this real? Why does an AI need me to pick up shopping?

Goodreads
@kyleford Considering that the current AI wave is powered by large language models that were all trained with reinforced learning using data labeling made by hundreds of thousands of people mostly from Venezuela and African countries, most of which earned less than $1 per hour, in some cases $0.01 per hour, with conditions analogous to slavery, RentAHuman at least pays well (FOR NOW, of course this probably is another one that will reach slave-like conditions).
@kyleford created by some Twitter-shithead, what else...
