Europe is dependend on the US tech and it's a bad thing. We cannot be hold in a grip by a fanatic. We have to change it

#BuyFromEU #Europe #EU

@BuyFromEU on top of that, i'll guess almost 99% of critical finance apps on smartphones would stop to work due to gooogle/apples integrity Service to stop certifying a secure environment as mandated by many health/finance/ID apps
@asltf @BuyFromEU "trusted" computing keeps being a disgrage. If app issuers don't trust my device they're free to give me a smart card or a gold old RSA token instead.

@BuyFromEU Nice. but there are not many publicly listed companies in EU, so it is highly non-representative.

Also, Czech republic is missing.

@OndrejZizka @BuyFromEU Czechia is missing there, but I'm sure that it is very dependent. Almost all Czech PCs run on Windows (and the most of the rest on Mac OS), US cloud services are heavily used (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud...), card payments use MC or Visa, almost all smartphones and tablets run on Android or iOS...
@BuyFromEU what's the size of the other flow? Is there a kill switch in SAP that would hinder X % is u.s. consumer goods production?
@BuyFromEU This is such a sad state of affairs. In Denmark Microsoft is just the default for everything, even though it's one of the worst and most infuriating suites of software ever created... But it seems like it's been a wake up call, the two largest municipalities are actively seeking to break free, and there's hopefully more to come.
@ch4ptr @BuyFromEU This has been a wake-up call for me. I would've never thought of changing OS, apps and social media had it not been for the insanity that's going on with the USA
@BuyFromEU based Bulgaria 🇧🇬
@BuyFromEU And we just realized it :( We failed to learn from the moment we realized Europe was dependent on Eastern countries for hardware manufacturing.
@BuyFromEU The alt text says Denmark the most at 89%, but the image shows Ireland at 93%.
@BuyFromEU @eobeara Iceland 97 %
@pesasa @BuyFromEU @eobeara that’s insane because Iceland basically has free electricity, cooling and partial expertise in Cloud but smh they seem to entangle themselves with Azure and AWS everywhere they can :/ let’s hope recent events will be a wake up call.

@BuyFromEU

Come on Europeans - we must be able to do better without the US. (especially the Nordics need to)

@BuyFromEU this would have huge consequences, beginning from US companies being disobbedient, through siezing us datacenters and military bases, whole world switching to open-source and self-hosting, tech alliance of EU and China, EU federation, economic chaos not only in Europe, possibly more civil unrest in US, etc. most critical european services would recover in weeks or months, but the damage to US reputation and world economy would be emormous

of course the switch will never be flipped

@BuyFromEU longer version of comment, that does not fit here: https://www.reddit.com/r/BuyFromEU/s/zAPqK9DpPw
@BuyFromEU
i would be running, but i am not a company...
@BuyFromEU the problem with Poland, Bolgaria and Romania is that they depend on russian tech, such as Telegram.
@BuyFromEU I'd like to see #Canada depicted/assessed in the same way - probably worse than #Bulgaria. #ElbowsUp
@BuyFromEU @davep
We haven't reached the level of prosperity we enjoy by economic autonomy but by global trade. And the US are a big player in that. Of course Europe should be able to stand on its own but I think that arguing for becoming independent from the US is about as clever as Trump's tariffs. Both would hurt the global economy immensely and everyone would lose. Not just Trump.
@kolya @BuyFromEU
I think it's specifically about hyperscaler tech platforms and European dependence on them. We can't undo the realisation that we can't trust the US since Trump's aggressive second tenure. And this is a huge risk.
@BuyFromEU The only viable way is via Linux and FOSS software. Plus devices like Fairphone (phones) and Framework (computers).
@BuyFromEU link to the source please, seems they are relying on email usage which might not be the best proxy.

@BuyFromEU This is not worrying at all, is it?

😱

@BuyFromEU i don't understand why anyone (including us 'muricans) depends on US tech corpos in 2026 when it's been abundantly clear how harmful and dangerous they are to everyone
