And a little unnecessary snark:

"Then on top of that they're the same people that constantly want to gloat about no longer using Windows and how they're super into FOSS. When the only reason they're using Linux now is because it has been bent into a bad Windows clone."

Actually, more people than ever are willing to migrate to Linux because Windows has become increasingly awful. This person also might not be aware of the #BuyFromEU / #BoycottUnitedStates movement since early 2025, which has been heavily promoting Linux, European Linux distributions - why?

At first, it was just a conspiracy theory that Microsoft could be compelled to disrupt European companies or users, but after the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague was sanctioned, Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan lost access to his Hotmail account, not just his bank account. And this was just the beginning of the whole discussion about "digital sovereignty" which has become a hot topic across European institutions and corporate environments...

On the other hand, Linux Foundation's main HQ is still in the US and Linus Torvalds showed no sign of hurrying up to relocate to Europe. When Russia was sanctioned by the US, Russian developers were banned from the Linux kernel. So the EU might have to fork the kernel altogether and keeping it funded...

Meanwhile, I've actually ended up using OpenBSD on desktop and GrapheneOS on mobile, both Canadian in origin. As I read on here - https://dhole.github.io/post/collapse_ready_os_openbsd/ - OpenBSD is a "collapse-ready" operating system which, if you were to not have Internet anymore, could be feasibly bootstrapped, you can store the OS source code, you can store a compilable software repository - the kinds of things you can't do with a locked-down OS.

EU-based Domain Registrar - feddit.org

Hi, Currently my domain (.org) is registered with namecheap. I just received an email that they want to increase my fees, and I see that as an opportunity to switch to a European registrar. Anyone have suggestions for an EU-based registrar with a DDNS service?
