I do believe the ceiling fan has to go.

@jerry

As long as it's only the fan πŸ˜‰

@jerry but how will you create that hair waving wind for the orchid glamor shots?
@ithoughtisawa2 like all the cool kids do: with a leaf blower
@jerry
Clearly no other choice.
@jerry ::adjusts pince-nez:: too ornate, anyways. The decor calls for something slim, perhaps in white. certainly ~4inches flatter.
@jerry maybe balance out the fan with rgb lites - my natural response - just like you balance a tire. particles are affected by nothing - you may still get some fx. you will probably take fan down and paint everything flat white, soften everything
#rgb #timing advance curves #springs

@jerry can I buy it, I was looking for one like this

[edit] just kidding, I’m too far away

@jerry when I first moved in the house I'm in now, and had absolutely nothing in it, I laid down on the living room floor and looked up at the horrible, ugly, 1990s ceiling fan and said yeah, that has to be the first thing to go. It took me eight more years to get rid of it... I hope your process is much faster!
@jerry Nowadays it's purely decorative, they take space up to 2 feets lol. They are good in a large space (living room), but not in enclosed space like rooms. While nice as they are except the white one, it gives yellowish over time and painful to dismantle and clean them. I'm thinking of getting rid of mine. I'd use a stand fan for cool climate, AC for when it's hot.

@jerry
What's the name of your wall color, please? Brand?

Yeah, the fan has to go. If you want one, get something sleeker and hugs the ceiling.

@Puck I'll go find it. I am pretty sure it's behr, but I still have the pain can and will post a pic when I get back home
@jerry
Thanks, you rock.
@Puck ok. It’s valspar from Lowe’s. It doesn’t have a name sadly, but this is the tag which is enough to have some made. I’m pretty sure it had a name when we first bought it a long time ago, but it has since been sunset and we took it in and they made it based on the tint values of the original paint.
@jerry
Thank you so much, Jerry. I'm trying to come up with a rich color for my new place and that's a strong contender.
@Puck it’s quite nice. It looks a lot darker on the wall that the bit of paint on the can looks, IMO. We’ve done a lot of bold colored walls in this house and they usually work out.
@jerry
I tend to bold colors, too. I just did my computer room in Onyx, with terra cotta curtains and it rocks. But I think the Onyx would be a bit much for the living room.
@Puck I did my basement bathroom in a deep red. It was glorious. Then my son moved down their and I don’t think I’ve regretted a paint color more when trying to cover over red with an off white paint.
@jerry
I'm a retired house painter, customer's daughter wanted a red bedroom. It was a red semi gloss and was so bad I stopped at first wall and told her to come look. It looked like a blood bath. I went to paint store, found a flat barn paint to cover it with and it was the best red ever. I've done accent walls, front doors, a conference room and a living room in it. But yeah, dark colors are hard to bring back to light.
