Getting on a train to go Seattle->LA soon, and despite the 36 hour journey time I'm actually quite intrigued. Never been on a US sleeper before, and I have a cabin (work is paying) and it actually sounds quite swanky. There's three meals a day served in the dining room and it's all posh like.

Bring my laptop, electricity and a private room - hell it could be a Tuesday.

@TomF id love to know what the inside of one of those looks like
@TomF I had a sleeper between Chicago <-> Longview, Texas. Quite nice. Private restroom and not-too-bad shower.

@TomF The ride itself was a bit rough because Scott Luck. One of the riders started attacking other customers, so they waited a bunch of time for the police to show up... who then said it wasn't their jurisdiction so they needed to then wait for the Amtrak police (which is apparently a thing) to show up.

I mean my door had a lock, and the aforementioned toilet, so y'know.

@scottmichaud @TomF Murder in the Texas Express!
@TomF The best way to travel! Definitely worth it imo
@TomF i’ve done this trip in a sleeper car too; but (un)fortunately, there isn’t internet for most of the trip.

@pyromuffin That is actually surprising. Planes have (I think) satellite internet the whole way, so you'd think a train would.

But I have packed Aseprite, Tiled and my trusty 68000 compiler, so I will be happily visiting 1990 for most of it.

@TomF I looked into that trip in reverse. Let us know how it goes.
@TomF Is Hercule Poirot on board? Better check…
