That parking spot is grinding money for its owner 24/7/365ΒΌ a year, like a good serf in a capitalist economy.
(That being said, the problem isn't that parking spot is expensive, but that the land on the area is, and the value is mismanaged. Surely area with 27$ parking is an area that should have Moscow-style subways.)
I never in my working life made more than half what that parking space does.

The Australian National Baseline Minimum wage is lower ($24.94 AUD or 23.55 CAD).
That said this doesn't include the 12% mandatory superannuation contribution on top of minimum wage, or penalty rates. Generally even entry level jobs have a higher minimum wage due to awards. Casuals for instance earn an additional 25% on top of full/part time wages.
So in my case as a casual at a Maccas (McDonalds), I do actually earn more without taking super or penalty rates into consideration.
Now idk about net take-home income after tax, I know nothing about Canadian tax law.
