That parking spot is grinding money for its owner 24/7/365¼ a year, like a good serf in a capitalist economy.
(That being said, the problem isn't that parking spot is expensive, but that the land on the area is, and the value is mismanaged. Surely area with 27$ parking is an area that should have Moscow-style subways.)
