Okay, my southern friends. I understand it's about to potentially snow. a lot, but that does not mean we need to act like the world is ending. Here are a few tips. get groceries because it never hurts to prepare but leave some for everybody else. Don't be greedy. Don't use warm water on something like your car to get ice off the windows, you'll crack glass. If it gets cold enough, keep your faucets dripping. If you can't drive on the ice and snow, stay inside. Hell, stay inside anyway. Make sure if you have pets that they're inside, don't leave them out in weather like this. Charge your everything. Phone, tablet, power bank, just in case you lose power. If you have doors and windows that let in drafts, place blankets around the cracks to keep heat in. Feel free to reply with any other tips I might have forgotten and boost for those who might be a bit unprepared. Use common sense and stay warm.
@NicksWorld @MariahL Good advice. Supposed to be mostly ice where I live in NC. Meh.
@NicksWorld @MariahL I wasn't aware there was going to be snow. Does that include Virginia?
@MariahL I wish it would just snow... a lot. That would be fine with me. I am more concerned about ice and power outages.
@yessie yeah I'm worried about that too, my parents have a generator, though in case it gets bad. and I heard tell of my dad building a fire this weekend. it'll be outside but he's got things rigged so the wind doesn't get through and things are covered.
@MariahL That's good. We do not have a generator or fireplace so we will have to bundle up if we lose power. I am hoping that doesn't happen, but our power goes out every time there is a hurricane or tropical storm.
@MariahL Oh, you know there's gonna be a run on grocery stores. It'll be like a massive raid.
@NicksWorld yeah it's already kind of happening where my mom works. I asked her how many people were starting to get stupid and I'm told it's already started.
@MariahL Ah, this doesn't surprise me.
@NicksWorld I was up in the Boston area late 2017 and a massive snowstorm was supposed to hit. My dumb ass told my friend we'd go shopping the day before the storm was expected. I couldn't find half the shit I needed. I had never seen such a thing.
@MariahL I'm prowd to be southern but I agree, we dont' know what to do. lol
@MariahL One problem, it's the south, we know hurricanes, not this snow stuff. Some of us had dreams of escaping that stuff. I guess though get food you can eat if the power goes, and get warm blankets.

@hallen @MariahL People in the south don't know how to deal with snow, but then when ice shows up, as is predicted, stuff really gets stupid.

Sent from North Carolina, where a quarter inch of snow closes schools for a couple of days sometimes.

@BorrisInABox @hallen Yeah that happens here in west central Texas, too. There was a "storm." in 2010 I think? Only about half an inch of snow if that and schools were closed for a week. it really wasn't that bad.
@BorrisInABox @hallen Hell, even when it rains which we get more of, people start to get stupid, it makes no sense, but then again what most people do doesn't make sense to me, so. there ya go.
@hallen I've survived two scary ass hurricanes. technically 3 if you count Harvey but I wasn't in the path of that one. Idalea and Hilene were the two I was in the path of and both were pretty wild. idalea was worse sounding because the house I was in at the time was up on stilts, but Hilene was actually worse.
@hallen I think I might have recordings of Idalea somewhere now that I think about it
@MariahL We got the rain from Harvey and I wondered if I'd need to build an arc? lol but yeah, will never forget constant rain from Saturday night til Tuesday afternoon.
@MariahL Staht ya cah! Batteries die when it gets too cold! My grandfather's truck battery just needed replaced this week, because, he didn't start it/run it for 10 mins during the freezing ass cold temps we had earlier this week!
@RaineyDay @MariahL If you can, Use clothes drier/something to warm your cclothes. If only to make yourself feel better.
@MariahL Know where your exhaust vents for furnaces, dryers, etc are and keep them clear, do not use gas heaters/lanterns inside.
