Everyone’s looking for the perfect app to keep their kids safe online. The answer is a desktop computer in the living room and we need to bring this shit back.
@Daojoan put my kiddo on a tiny old micro optiplex, chown'd the web browser and Minecraft. Downloaded offline Wikipedia and loaded his favorite audiobooks and music. Showed him the Star Wars thing on the terminal. Attached one of those pawn shop clear TVs as a monitor.

@thecyberwitch @Daojoan Or even better (if financially feasible): Get them the #Pi400 Kit with manual and let them fiddle with #Python.

Since it's an #ARM64+#Linux machine, they can't install #PayToLoose bs like #Fortnite and #Roblox or #Govware / #Malware like #Windows!

@[email protected] @[email protected] #Roblox is just a shitshow and should be #banned for being a violation of #COPPA, being full of #CSAM, pedos grooming and sexting minors, child #Gambling and minors exploiting each other for #labour and #money! @kkarhan @Daojoan haha I have so much old hardware to put to good use, including older Pi's. :P Kiddo ain't getting sudo access to install any junk anytime soon. And if he somehow finds a way to bypass it, I'll be impressed and get to work on my sysadmin skills.

Got him on Leocad and Scratch in the meantime

@thecyberwitch @Daojoan good tools.

Also #RaspberryPiOS is a good beginner & education distro...
