It would only take a tiny handful of Republican Congress members or senators to stop the slide of America toward authoritarian fascism, but nope. They're all in.
Not so sure anymore. At this point trump might as well invade and dissolve Congress.
That might actually be a later step.
@heafnerj
They can't be, though. Its bad when they do it to regular people, it's bad when its done to them. Sure, they'd land nice Kremlin jobs in an official capacity, but throwing out citizens, even the shittiest of them, is wrong.
That's how Republicans win, though, the rule of law doesn't seem to apply to them.
One Republican in particular owns all of this. When given the chance to hold Trump accountable and even prevent his ever taking office again, Addison Mitchell McConnell III refused to get his hands dirty.
These politicians know what happens to them in a fascist movement.

It's not the first time the John Birch alumni of Koch Network funded a campaign of stochastic terrorism.
Those funding Project 2025 are very familiar with how to gin up riots, assassinations, death threats, harassment campaigns, & ethnic cleansing.

Musk, Thiel, & Ellison are willing copycats.
Musk can & has triggered far right riots in Brazil, Canada, UK, and USA with a single tweet echoed by his spambot armies.
@[email protected] if only three GOP members in each chamber went independent to caucus with a Democratic majority, they could help with oversight and be heroes
Any Republican elected to federal office could win historic and durable acclimation if they stopped supporting this couptastrophe and caucused with Democrats to stop it
In the equivalent of the Nuremberg Trials, every single one (and many more) must be held accountable for their many crimes.
BTW: You know how f***ed up Congress is when the most sane and clear-eyed statements come from Massie and Greene.
Indeed, and that is the very worrying part…
General strike. Blockade Wall Street. Shut down the oligarchs.
Waiting for elected leaders to do anything is couch potato territory.
@petergleick and if they don't, and we ever get control back, I will vote for and support and donate and knock-on-doors for the candidate who promises to use the same authorization methods to aggressively enforce every single possible law broken by any Republican in this administration and hold as many of them as possible in prison as flight risks while any felony charges are being pursued.
I want the retribution candidate. I want to see the fucking Nuremberg trials for ICE agents and leadership.
I swear, I'll support fucking beheading some of these assholes.
The pressure they are under, however, must be insane. The full resources of several rich nations, most of the media and social media, organised crime, multiple billionaires, most of their peers. And it's not as if they've been selected for rectitude and courage.
I'm always reminded of J. J. Patrick's analysis of Brexit. It was necessary to influence 200k voters in the referendum to get the result but fire could be focused a few tens of MPs to protect it.
