[P] The thing about typies is how easily "fitting in" becomes a hatred for anyone not of their group-self. Typies don't have a self, per se, only a group-self. And the more outside of that group-self one is, the more that group-self will hate them for it. The neueodivergent approach to "stopping" small boats is safe and legal avenues of asylum. The neurotyoical way of stopping small boats is to shoot the boats—sink 'em all.

[P] The thing is is that a cynical neurodivergent author could have Literal Hitler as their "hero," with everyone singing worshipful oraise for tossing the orcs in gas chambers. And unironically, typies will take this at face value if this Literal Hitler is familiar and handsome according to group-self standards. I've seen it happen. I've seen typiss get really into a Literal Hitler, because group-self labels him "hero."

@wearywulf have you read The Iron Dream by Norman Spinrad? It's not quite what you describe here, but it's not far off. The premise is that Hitler emigrated to the US after WWI and became a pulp sci-fi writer, and the bulk of the story is his wish-fulfillment fantasy about a racially pure hero who rises to power and leads his nation to victory over the evil Universalist mutants.

It's a fun read.
