I tried to make an animated version, but lots of closely placed lines at an angle close to vertical or horizontal already create Moiré patterns, so it defeated the purpose.

When I was a kid my dad would bring home transparent discs that would create a Moiré pattern when overlaid and turned.

He also brought home other cool science stuff, like magnets and iron filings and chemicals. He was a scientist.
