We need those who claim to be "left" to stop punching down on the disabled, covid cautious and immune compromised.

Masking is resistance.
It's community care.

The ruling class wants you sick and weak so you won't fight back.

Healthcare is being gutted.

There's never been a better time to mask

@broadwaybabyto I'd rather mask for a different reason: privacy preservation. No health reasons, just privacy work.
@broadwaybabyto That is so disappointing of Jon Stewart. But he hasn't been "left" for ages, rather a centrist liberal, who also famously promoted the right-wing lab leak theory. But as a comedian he should know better than to be punching down, which is a cheap, pathetic method to garner laughs. I will have to stop watching his show, again, after only recently coming back to it.
@antiaall3s @broadwaybabyto
I mean, even if it was a lab leak, would that make it more or less important to protect from it 🤷‍♀️

@sabik @antiaall3s @broadwaybabyto another COVID insanity I've been reminded of lately. It would make sense to me to be more cautious of a lab leaked virus.

Most people I encountered who were on the lab leak side of the fence were anti-masking etc. Twas fun asking them why they were more worried about whatever they thought the issue was than catching an artificial virus made by people who were incompetent enough to cause a global pandemic because they could not contain it.

For a few months I have been looking forward to asking the vocal anti-vaxers I know why everyone has not dropped dead given we're approaching the five year mark of mass COVID vaccination. I'm awful I know.

@broadwaybabyto @antiaall3s

Yeah, ridiculing people has long been part of Stewart’s act, like many comedians he often uses being mean as the core of his schtick, pointing out others’ flaws and laughing at them. We shouldn’t be surprised to find that pointed at ourselves. Disappointing, but not really surprised.

@broadwaybabyto That mask is so big and so black, It makes me think of Kakashi from Naruto/Naruto Shippuden.
@broadwaybabyto
Shame on them. Wearing a mask hurts no one.
@broadwaybabyto Great video! About that "N95 mask underneath cloth mask" ... anyone know what is the state of the art on that? I'd love to put something more stylish over my plain respirators, but I once heard something about interfering with the electrostatic blah blah filter something or other. Do we know if adding an outer cloth layer is safe for the wearer, as long as it doesn't interfere with the seal?

@planteater24x7 @broadwaybabyto NOT A PROFESSIONAL but as an interested party… There are a few schools of thought on this, but something that often occurs to me is that in HEPA vacuum and air purifiers there's regularly a foam or other layer to keep larger particles from hitting the HEPA filter (which is an electrostatic filter.) I think most the studies I've seen about wearing an additional layer over a respirator had to do with compromising the fit - if there were especial electrostatic concern in circumstances of high risk I'd anticipate it wouldn't go *wholly* unremarked upon here for instance:

However, prolonged humidity does degrade the charge faster, so something of an open weave might be preferable. Were I going to do this I'd probably do it for somewhat lower risk circumstances, but I'm much more cautious than many.

We were working on ways of recharging masks, and even self-charging masks, so as demand eventually flows again that will likely be a new focus.

@cwicseolfor Excellent points to consider. I appreciate your perspective on this - thank you!
@planteater24x7 @broadwaybabyto any kind of additional mask on top of an N95 increases the resistance of air through the N95, thereby increasing the chance of breaking the seal against your face and allowing virus to bypass the filtration.
@CaramelizedShallots A great point to keep in mind - thanks!
@broadwaybabyto "But if we don't shit on disabled people how are we supposed to convince the right to stop being Nazis?" 🙄
