@planteater24x7 @broadwaybabyto NOT A PROFESSIONAL but as an interested party… There are a few schools of thought on this, but something that often occurs to me is that in HEPA vacuum and air purifiers there's regularly a foam or other layer to keep larger particles from hitting the HEPA filter (which is an electrostatic filter.) I think most the studies I've seen about wearing an additional layer over a respirator had to do with compromising the fit - if there were especial electrostatic concern in circumstances of high risk I'd anticipate it wouldn't go *wholly* unremarked upon here for instance:

However, prolonged humidity does degrade the charge faster, so something of an open weave might be preferable. Were I going to do this I'd probably do it for somewhat lower risk circumstances, but I'm much more cautious than many.
We were working on ways of recharging masks, and even self-charging masks, so as demand eventually flows again that will likely be a new focus.
