A bookplate is a pre-printed label people would stick inside their books so when people borrowed them, they knew where to return them. “Ex libris” is also used for a bookplate, being Latin for from the library of.

This Jugendstile (Art Nouveau) one was made by Otolia Kraszewska, a Polish artist.

Update: the name at the bottom is Lily von Poschinger - thanks, @ajinkyapdahale

@barefootliam “Simon Toschinger” is my guess. The S is indistinct, though
@acb Could also be Amon Joshinger i think. Thanks!
@barefootliam @acb
… von …oschinger
@liilliil @barefootliam the first word could not “am” (“an dem”, “at the”), assuming that’s a sensible convention for putting before a proper name in a bookplate. Perhaps there was a von _oschinger foundation/library/institution of some sort whose ownership of books would justify a definitive article?
@barefootliam Simon Toschinoer, I think.
@barefootliam My best guess "Lily (von?) [JT]oschin[cg]er"
@barefootliam Guess that's a "Poschinger".A little searching leads me to these paintings from 1900s: https://fryemuseum.org/node/1531 https://www.mutualart.com/Artwork/Lily-von-Poschinger/9A98F30D9D1D5F7D.

@barefootliam This might be just a coincidence since Toschinger and Joschinger both seem to be surnames (albeit with spelling variations).
