A bookplate is a pre-printed label people would stick inside their books so when people borrowed them, they knew where to return them. “Ex libris” is also used for a bookplate, being Latin for from the library of.

This Jugendstile (Art Nouveau) one was made by Otolia Kraszewska, a Polish artist.

@barefootliam This might be just a coincidence since Toschinger and Joschinger both seem to be surnames (albeit with spelling variations).
