@evcc why should manufacturers collect my data in the first place? a local var/log/vehicle would cover all my needs. and i want root access to at least all not immediately safety-relevant bits

@naltatis yes, and no. we've been living through all this with phones, with #linuxmobile only gaining momentum recently. computerised cars are in a much earlier phase of the learning curve - why should we wait and watch the same processes unfold one more time? if i buy a product, to serve my needs, and for good money, i can duly expect to not be turned into a product myself.

@evcc - special call-out to #BMW for closing the API that previously worked well - also with #homeassistant - last September.
My BEV is now a ... digital brick, except for the sucky app.
