"RemoveWindowsAI" is a script created by zoicware, available on GitHub, that does exactly what it says: it remove every AI feature in Windows 11. Do what you wish to do with this information. I'm sharing this because some folks are forced to use Win11 at work or other places for any reasons.

@nixCraft it's an irony that it's hosted on github 😅

@pegaz @nixCraft I hope that Author used Copilot to check his script for validity.

"Hey copilot, I want to get rid of all AI scam in windows 10 and windows 11, and here is my powershell script for that, have I missed anything?"

@pegaz @nixCraft Yes. #MicrosoftGithub is a trough to feed AI. Even after you remove your repositories Microsoft keeps the archives to feed its AI.
@nixCraft If you want to take few more steps, install AtlasOS instead.
@nixCraft hm, while I'm totally supporting this endeavor, running downloaded powershell scripts as admin makes my security spidey senses very uneasy!
@mana_z @nixCraft so true. Windows makes it's users more vulnerable by not having official patches to do the same thing.
@mana_z @nixCraft It took me awhile to trust memstechtips on Github. I keep Git to a bare minimum as a rule, let alone scripts.

@mana_z @nixCraft also the post above that stated "because some people have to use it at work"... if it is a work machine don't run random stuff.

Nag your IT person about this. And your boss. And the union.

@nixCraft nope, much appreciated! Some of us are doing cross-platform developing and testing and -- this stuff is *really* in the way when you're virtualizing, too.

@nixCraft

Fortunately, I can not test this.

When Charles Koch is working to impose AI features, you know it's awful...

Five Billionaires Pledged $1 Billion To Boost Economic Mobility Using AI

Five of America’s top philanthropists are teaming up for a new venture aimed at helping low-income Americans rise from poverty. An AI giant has signed on to help.

@nixCraft

Okay, but when you're forced to use Win11 at work, you're either not granted to apply such mods on your workstation

@nixCraft 62 forks and ~2100 stars. Lol.

@nixCraft hmm... I may need to mine this for anything else to add to my "AI Control" policy at work.

Please don't leak protected information to the the oligarchs.

@pixelate @nixCraft sure but at work you aren't allowed to do that hehe
@nixCraft 'tis why I stick with Linux.

@nixCraft I’ve tested this on a VM; be warned that it does download some cab files and installs them as features. I cracked them open and they just seem to be signed manifest files, but that could change….

Other than that, I found it to be a very comprehensive AI removal script with a few neat tricks used to get rid of stubborn packages. I have seen no explanation for the cab files though.

@nixCraft
Goes in the deployment tool
@nixCraft @briankrebs Umm, you shouldn’t run this on a work computer. That’s your employer’s machine, not yours, and you shouldn’t be messing with it (if it even lets you).
@davidbcohen @nixCraft @briankrebs does the employer use the computer? Do they need it for something other than their employees using it? I dont think you understand how property works.
@Montaagge @nixCraft @briankrebs If the employer supplies the computer then they own it, not the employee. It is a work-provided tool, and you can’t go putting your own software on it.
@davidbcohen @nixCraft @briankrebs except that you physically can, so, I presume there is no actual metaphysics grounding your claim. If your employer dies who owns the computer? What is the provenance of the components? Do you claim this employer has always had a significant relationship to the atoms that compose the object?
@nixCraft or... Don't use Windows
@nixCraft Good thing Windows Iot doesn't get AI features
@nixCraft Using something like this in my work computer seems like a good way to get fired if IT finds out
@nixCraft
Much better than my little rmai.cmd file that relies on winget and other CLI tools.
@nixCraft I did on my Win11 company laptop (with local admin rights). Right after the script did its thing, the company IT watchdog Crowdstrike disconnected me from the net....
@nixCraft the script removes Windows and install Linux? 🤣
@nixCraft pretty cool, but removing the OS and replacing with Linux is a more permanent solution.
