Musician and journalist. I make cdm.link, a home for electronic music and expressive technology, work on the #meeblip synthesizer, and I'm a composer / media artist / DJ and activist. Lebanese-American heritage, based in Berlin.

Abadir's The Primitivist is a high-energy rhythmic tour of Arabic sound:

Abadir's unique voice dives deep into rootedness in rhythms from Iraq, Kuwait, Syria, and Palestine. Essential sounds alongside criticism, a combo we need more of.

A rungler-inspired vocal synth that speaks in tongues. An envelope-shaping effect with polymeters and time you can skew and bend. Meet the new every something plug-ins (AU/VST3)!

Francisco Partners is exiting Muse Group (Audacity, Hal Leonard, MuseScore), in a "successful conclusion."

So that's private equity *out* of Muse (amidst other financial news in MI in 2026):

26.04 LTS is about a week away, and we need donations.

As stated before, our web hosting is changing providers, which is now an extra monthly expense. The migration is complete, but we're just waiting for the nameservers to be changed.

Additionally, several old bugs have been fixed this cycle, and we even rewrote both Ubuntu Studio Installer and Audio Config apps from the ground up! None of this comes without a cost.

So, please, we need donations. Visit https://ubuntustudio.org/contribute.

I should actually do a proper survey of all the APIs in DAWs.

Many use Lua rather than JS. (like @ardour ) But only Reaper has ever supported running on a giant wooden crucifix, however.

Accept JesuSonic as your lord and savior:

Ableton has added a scripting API to Ableton Live via JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js.

It's called Extensions, and I break down what it can and can't do at launch of its public beta (I've been testing it).

It can make Flappy Bird run in your Live session and collect MIDI notes for your project. That's one thing.

"When emotions become overwhelming, sound gives me a safe outlet."

In a guest essay from Kyiv, Kaximia, part of Tembra Modular, talks about synthesis as an outlet for emotion during war. Then last night, UA faced one of the worst aerial attacks of the war. Must-read:

Unreal Engine 5.8 is a major audio release, despite Epic staffing cuts. These additions are a big deal, and as always, they're free for most uses.

Who's up for some channel-agnostic granular synthesis?

Also, lots more support on macOS, Linux, and Android.
