It's still a work in progress, but seems stable enough for "public beta", so by popular demand here's a standalone version of the parametric clock generator I recently added to my online teletext viewer:
https://zxnet.co.uk/clock/#template=BBC1-1991

Clicking in the bottom right of the page opens the settings pane where you can adjust pretty much everything to modify the built in clocks, change captions etc, or create your own completely custom ones.

Your custom parameters are stored in the gigantic ugly URL, so you an bookmark and share your creations.

As a special Christmas treat, here's a secret BBC1 Wales Christmas clock:

@zxguesser

How is the custom background image done?

@ali1234 which... are you looking at the secret undocumented one I put in for people using it in an OBS browser source? πŸ˜†

@zxguesser

Yes. It's just a custom one though right? But there's nowhere to enter an image URL.

@ali1234 it was a deliberate decision not to allow adding arbitrary images to clock urls, so for the templates it selects the name of one of the image urls embedded in images.json

However it also looks for -customClockBackground in the css for the page body and loads an image from the url it finds. As I say this is designed for running it in e.g. OBS injecting the custom css rule. It's a disgusting hack

@zxguesser Ohh this tickles my fancy! Very nice!

@zxguesser This is a gem!

I'd thought about doing similar a few years back.

@zxguesser These are really lovely
@zxguesser holy crap - are these css only (give or take?)
@coldclimate excessive amounts of terrible javascript drawing on an html5 canvas.
@coldclimate it's an offshoot of my hugely overcomplicated web based teletext viewer which somehow keeps gaining features unrelated to teletext instead of the things that actually need fixing πŸ˜†
@zxguesser Love this so much. I recreated an equivalent Polish clock some years ago. https://aresluna.org/polish-tv-clock/
@zxguesser You also inspired me to revisit an old piece I wrote! Sharing in case you might find it interesting. I linked to your work in it. https://aresluna.org/the-clock

@zxguesser

I wonder if they would make for a different OS level screensaver also πŸ™‚πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

@zxguesser My dad says this one from the 1950s is missing:
