My eldest fur child Suko is in hospital in incubation fighting his illnesses, please send your well wishes for him
Good news: is not cancer
Not the best news but not super terrible either: It seems to be diabetic shock with a mixture of kidney disease, now while he does have a regular routine to his eating this seems to of just occurred over time and he's been good at hiding his illnesses
Still trying to figure it out at this point..

News so far on Mr Suko's condition.
His Glucose levels have come down significantly and are sitting just below 15 but spiked back to 17 (when we first brought him in he was 35 ;_; ,,, so he's done a good job coming back down ) . The vets are managing getting him stable enough so that we can help him further which is good news so far. Tests that have been done are liver and kidney, thyroid, glucose and hydration with a diagnosis of diabetes and possibly kidney disease

Please keep him in your thoughts 💜

The vets suspect the 1 in 100 unfortunately happened with Suko that he just got it. Going to have to do alot of theory and practice as well as teaching the polycule to help him out around home in giving his medicine if I'm not around

Good news everyone!

We've come in this morning and look what we've found! Suko eating! He's up and walking around! On the road to recovery.

While we're not out of the woodwork yet with his health he's at least on the mend and was interested in eating food this morning!

The Vet bill was $1582.09 AUD plus $1000 AUD for his bond for the last 24 hours now we have another bill coming up since we need to keep him in another day or two and run some tests depending on his stability.

Going to figure out setting up a donation fund to help pay for his bills since money is tight right now and we're trying to find a home at the same time...

Off to the vets again for a check up
He's been doing really well in recovery, body weight has keep keeping but also fluctuating at the same time

He has gained 200 grams since last weigh 3.42 kg

Vet is happy with his overall condition so far

Next visit is to discuss his change of food and other requirements he'll need from here on

On the up from here!

Here's a picture of him basking in the sun from the other day

Here we are, Back again

This time, just for check ups!

Making sure he's keeping at the levels we need to keep him at (Glucose, Thyroid etc) so he can maintain a happy healthy life!

Vets checked him over and his Glucose was sitting a little high but normal for a diabetic feline, no ketones or other bad signatures FANTASTIC!

Over the holiday period, He's going to be looked after by a Vet Nurse in Training while we are away in Tartanya (South Australia)

This also gives her first hand experience managing a diabetic feline on a day to day basis and can go towards prior study for her internship

Our morning so far:
Got up super early for this boy at 4:30 am so we could be awake enough to get his insulin shot done by 5 am

he ate half his food and then come slunk back into bed, such a good boy c:

Managed to fall asleep after that and wake back up at a reasonable hour,,, now to actually start the day

The chronicles of being a full time carer for a #diabeticfeline

and we're back to the vets again,
we are currently in Rural South Australia 800km in the other direction..

he has just been admitted and is staying with Advanced Vetcare in Kensington, Naarm

His body has gone into Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)

We've been thinking he's needed more insulin but hadn't fully shown signs of it to this degree (lethargic, vomiting etc)

Please keep him in your thoughts that we can fight through this 🙏

included is a screenshot from his carer (a Vet nurse in training) his admission is 1.2k , we have funds to cover it so far but further bills are going to come out of our pocket

@harper our cat Toby had incidents of this with his diabetes, turns out he also had chronic pancreatitis. Once we learned that we kept a very close eye on him amd his eating/insulin, but not after a couple of very low blood sugar scares (one had the vet saying she had never seen a cat with sugar that low who wasn't seizing, he was a tank our Toby). If you haven't had a check for pancreatitis it might be worth a mention.

Best of luck to you and the furry one, I hope they feel better soon.

@commonst thankyou for your wisdom we will check this out
@harper glad to help if I can.
@commonst you were right!
he has it with the keystones and with white cell count it was down
we are doing further tests to help him out will update when we know more
@harper oh, I am so glad you caught it! It can make things more exciting with the diabetes, but if you know it is easier to watch for it. Do please keep me posted.

@harper do you wanna dm me your bank/bpay because i hate PayPal.

(Also I need to be paid this week first lol, which is late tomorrow/early the day after)
