What is the best kind of pie? How should it be served?

I'm torn between rustic apple pie (with the big apple chunks, flaky crust, and crumbly topping), served with a bunch of French vanilla ice cream, and chicken pot pie (with oodles of fat and sodium), served with way more than my stomach can fit.

@alice i love chicken pot pie, but it's totally btfo by tourtierre imo, though the ones i've had always end up looking like they'd taste like wet cardboard (despite tasting great) LMAO
someone on the french canadian side of my dad's family gave us a tourtierre when my parents went to a family reunion a while back and it went hard af

@alice @dissoc pumpkin pie is objectively the best pie, and I will not hear otherwise. A good pumpkin pie stands on its own, but a bit of fresh whipped cream can add a certain something.

@alice @dissoc hmm... Best pie is a servo 4&20 but ONLY if it's served correctly! It must be later than 1am, good dollop of tomato sauce and eaten by the side of the road with mate(s) for the full effect

@alice The best pie is a double-crust salmon pie, « tourte au saumon Â» in French.

It has puff pastry crust on top and bottom, and you can decorate it nicely with small fishes of extra puff pastry on the top crust.

@alice The best kind of pie is one that my husband @gairdeachas and I make together. Several years ago, I sent him to pie camp as a gift and he loved it! And boy have I loved eating the results. Then I found the book Pieometry with instructions for gorgeous, colorful, geometric pie designs. So sometimes Casey will make his tasty flaky crust and I will patiently arrange it into something eye-catching, and we both eat and enjoy the results together 😘

@alice @dissoc Sugar pie. (It's a French Canadian thing somewhat similar to a giant butter tart.) This has always been my favourite pie. Sadly, I'm diabetic now.
