RANDOM REMINDER
theft is the #business model of capitalists; because capitalists’ main goal is to produce #poverty.

in a 2014 Economic Policy Institute study of #wageTheft, they found it was 3x the size of all forms of robberies ―in USA―, COMBINED.

and their data mostly excludes high earners, because most labor protection laws focus on hourly, minimum-wage workers.

they estimate wage theft costs USA’s workers $50 billion ANNUALLY ―and this excludes the loss of #wages vs #productivity gap… 🧵

We've never evolved out of the feudalism 😒

"Capitalists' main goal is to produce poverty."

🤯 I never thought of that. 🤔 I can't reject it out of hand. I'm going to have to think about that.

@blogdiva Strong agree. I used to live in a part of LA where our place was broken into a few times. It’s obvious to anyone living there it’s desperation, not greed, driving those robberies.

Wage theft on the other hand, is entirely greed, and often greed of the most wealthy—CEOs who are vying for bragging rights vs other CEOs, for example (see link below).

There’s a significant difference in ethics there and they should be treated as such.

Warren Buffett says rules requiring CEO-to-employee pay comparison backfired

Warren Buffett said post-2008 rules requiring companies to disclose CEO pay ratios lead to more envy and greed — and longer proxy statements.

And excludes the 3.6 trillion dollars annually in unpaid labor women do in home, child, and elder care.

Robbery is theft

Wage theft is theft

Therefore wage theft is robbery?

That there is an artificially imposed distinction says so much about how capitalism treats white collar crime vs other crime, especially when it comes to consequences as in none for the former and potentially prison for the latter.

@blogdiva yes but you don't understand. wage theft is done by the people that hold the leash for the enforcers.
