This is the best takedown of Musk I’ve ever read. From a beloved author around my age no less, Joyce Carol Oates.
@georgetakei Yes, it feels like such an empty and devoid life. I would feel bad for him if he wasn't so committed to making life unpleasant for others. I wonder if it's the cause though. Maybe because joy is so absent from his life and unreachable he wants to make sure others can't experience it either? I don't know. Certainly not someone who has ever felt a rush of scentimentality smelling the moss at the shore.

@georgetakei

She's got him. Worth noting: I got to the end thinking I was reading a description of Trump. Both of them may be rich and powerful. Neither seems the least bit happy.

@Professor_Stevens His reply to her was also highly Trumpian in tone. (And consequently, extremely unconvincing.)

@georgetakei

@wil @georgetakei

What was his reply?

@Professor_Stevens I'm not finding the specific one I was thinking of -- it may have actually been a response to someone else, but there's one here. https://fandomwire.com/joyce-carol-oates-eviscerates-elon-musk-again-like-piano-wire-through-tofu-truly-it-was-out-of-curiosity/
Joyce Carol Oates Eviscerates Elon Musk Again Like Piano Wire Through Tofu: "Truly it was out of curiosity"

Author Joyce Carol Oates takes a curious question to Elon Musk on X, and people claim she has dissected the billionaire's mannerisms.

FandomWire

@wil

He really can't take it, can he? And that stuff about "making far more than one consumes" is almost literally lifted from Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged," the bible of the wealthy sociopath.

I may not be rich, but I think I'm in a better mood tonight than he is.

@georgetakei I forgot who this was about for a moment and thought she was talking about Trump and, yeah, it just totally tracks in both directions.
@icculushfb42 @georgetakei I think Leon Skum might be closer to having a personality than Chump. But it’s hard to know how much of that Captain Future, Space Cadet persona is a put on.
"Some people are so poor, all they have is money"
Bob Marley
@JustRobForNow I think Jacob Marley might have also said that.

From Reddit:

The quote “Some people are so poor, all they have is money” has been attributed to Patrick Meagher (a Canadian journalist and author), Bob Marley (the famous reggae singer) and others.

Coco Chanel made a similar remark when she said “There are people who have money and there are people who are rich“.

"Beware of overconcern for money, or position, or glory. Someday you will meet a man who cares for none of these things. Then you will know how poor you are." -Rudyard Kipling

@JustRobForNow Like Elon, Coco Chanel knew how to give a Nazi salute.

Another from Bob Marley:

"Money is numbers and numbers never end. If it takes money to be happy, your search for happiness will never end".

@georgetakei As someone else here pointed out, not the wealthiest but the greediest. Joy in simple pleasures is something hard to monetise, like a sunrise/sunset, cloud formations, hugs from family or loved ones.

@georgetakei

and Musk knew it was about him, because he's only got one distinguishing feature: $$.

Should he fall to 2nd place, he'd lose his Identity.

This is the best takedown of Musk I’ve ever read. From a beloved author around my age no less, Joyce Carol Oates.

Musk has no time for such things, he spends so much time inseminating any female who can not climb a tree or run faster than he can.

His opinion is spreading his superior (asshole) genes is vital.

Paying for the kids he sired or even visiting them is too much of a chore.

@georgetakei It's very true, but I do need to add that it doesn't take obscene levels of wealth to enjoy all the things she describes, but one individual like him can deprive so many people of so many of the basic necessities that their lives become a full time struggle to survive and they can't afford to spend time enjoying those things. I frankly don't care how miserable that man is, but what he is inflicting on millions of people is unforgivable.
thanks for using #AltText, @georgetakei

@IAmDannyBoling @georgetakei

So good to finally see one of the bigger accounts doing this. Now if we can just get the others to follow suit!

George, we like you for a reason!

@hosford42

And you've got to monitor their posts all the time too. George, in particular, frequently switches up his social media team so I have to "retrain" them every few months.

@georgetakei

@georgetakei Evidence of a sad and empty life
@georgetakei A brutlally honest take down.
Most people would have been content long ago.
He could have retired in 2020 and had enough for his Mars plans.

@georgetakei

Well...this is how it looks when his heart goes out to someone.

#musk

@georgetakei … but my nepotism and sycophantry!
@georgetakei except for when he takes time to miss the point of Foundation or Star Trek

@Mr_Briney @georgetakei

Or Iain Banks’ Culture novels

@georgetakei If we are the type to desire revenge I do believe we can take solace in the fact that he knows.

He mentioned once that he has some WWII knife he likes to throw at his wall and he mentioned this in a way that was very full of bravado and threat. He thought it made him sound big I guess but I do believe he knows how pathetic that is.

That's what he's doing. Throwing a knife at his wall. Not because it's fun to learn a skill. Because he's pissed at us and throws tantrums all day.

@georgetakei simple. Because he is a psychopath
@georgetakei Well this just made my entire day
@georgetakei Most evil people have zero personality.
@georgetakei Musk is so poor that what he owns is just money and big ego

@georgetakei Musk? Oh yeah, him too.
I assumed this about Trump.

Musk does read some SF books, Iain Banks for example, but every statement he’s made about them makes it clear he missed the point.

@JamesPadraicR @georgetakei He would read the Mars trilogy and conclude the transnationals were the good guys all along.
@georgetakei For all his alleged wealth, he does seem to be wildly unhappy.

So curious that such a wealthy man never posts anything that indicates that he enjoys or is even aware of what virtually everyone appreciates— scenes from nature, pet dog or cat, praise for a movie, music, a book (but doubt that he reads); pride in a friend’s or relative’s accomplishment; condolences for someone who has died; pleasure in sports, acclaim for a favorite team; references to history. In fact he seems totally uneducated, uncultured. The poorest persons on Twitter may have access to more beauty & meaning in life than the “most wealthy person in the world.”
@georgetakei a man telling people his kid is dead when it's just living the life they deserve is already among the lowest of low. Musk needs special care, not money and power. This guy got more issues than dollars
@georgetakei yeah, when you love a person you will usually justify what he does. when you don't like a person, even the things that person doesn't do, become the reason you hate that person.
