After a decade, @_Davidsmith and I have published the final episode of Under The Radar.

We're incredibly proud of our ten-year catalog of 30-minute discussions on development, marketing, monetization, work/life balance, and mental health for app developers.

We've heard from so many of you already (thanks!), and the show also brought incredible value to David and me, for both our businesses and our friendship.

We had a great run! Thanks for listening, everyone.

Under the Radar - Relay

From development and design to marketing and support, Under the Radar is all about independent app development. It's rarely longer than 30 minutes.

@marcoarment @_Davidsmith I for one will miss your show
@_Davidsmith hey gents, I am not even an app developer but enjoyed the last decade of your conversation. Thanks so much!

@marcoarment @_Davidsmith

It’s long been one of my favorite podcasts about software dev in general and Apple platforms in specific. Thanks for all the content and enjoy your well earned rest.

@marcoarment

maybe you could add a chapter to ATP that would cover same topics?

@marcoarment @_Davidsmith I never developed an iOS app myself, but it was a great show to listen to. Thx
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith First Release Notes, then Core Intuition, now Under the Radar. Time for me to retire? But what will I do then? Not listen to old school dev podcasts apparently.
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith Thank you! I thought it was super special that you never interrupted each other and everyone had plenty of time to express themselves.
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith oh man, this makes me very sad but congrats on the incredible run. I’m sure you have good reasons, and I will savour listening to the final episode!
@joethephish It is sad for us too, but was the right time to draw a line under the show. It has been one of the more consistent parts of my professional life for the last decade, so really odd that it won't be there going forward.
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith I’ve really enjoyed listening to the both of you over the years. Thank you and congratulations on a great run!
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith thank you guys so much for the years of great discussion. As an indy developer, it can be a very lonely career with no colleagues but hearing from others having to deal with the same problems and decisions that I did was always so helpful. I will really miss the show! 🙏
@garysabo Thanks for saying that, I know that lonely feeling all too well. I’m so glad that Under the Radar was able to help a bit with that. It has been a big motivator over the years to share our experiences to make them more accessible
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith I'm still processing that you've decided to wrap up the show. And also: ten years?! What a run!
@marcoarment Really enjoyed the show. Thank you and Underscore for making it.
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith ahh, just listened to the last episode, I will miss listening to you every 2 weeks for usually not longer than 30 minutes! While I'm not exclusively indie, I'm part of a (very) small company and there have been a lot of great, helpful topics over the years. Anyway, congratulations on making the show for a decade, thanks!
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith thank you guys, the show has often been inspiring for me! Certainly going to be missed.
The best for you both.
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith It always felt like a privilege to listen.

@marcoarment @_Davidsmith

Thank you both. I have enjoyed listening & learning!

@marcoarment @_Davidsmith A great final episode to a great run, thanks for all of it and enjoy the new space created❣️

@marcoarment @_Davidsmith @siracusa *Usually* 30 minutes. 😆

It was a good run, on to new an exciting things! 💙

@marcoarment @_Davidsmith Oh no. So many of the wonderful podcasts that I have listened to over the years have come to an end and this is just another one. I will miss the bi-weekly discussions. Others I miss are Compile Swift, Fireside Swift, Contravariance, Stacktrace, Swift by Sundell, Swift Unwrapped, Swiftly Speaking, and many others. There is room for more. Would love recommendations to add to my current list. I wont't name them so that recommendations can list them.
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith Never listened to it, so now I can binge it all at once since I know that it did not get cancelled mid-season. I hope all the plot points get resolved and the characters get a happy ending. 🙂🍿
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith its been a highlight in my playlists for years, thanks for all the insights/entertainment and considered opinions over that time … onward with new developments!
@marcoarment
But why not keep it as an irregular podcast where you can vent or express your concerns every once in a while? Podcasts don't have to be regular radioshows.
@_Davidsmith
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith Oh, no! I love the podcast so much and learn so much from it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for keeping it up for so long. I hope our paths cross again, Marco, and David, know that you helped me a lot over the years (with doing my coding and through your products). Take care, the both of you! -Dan Bricklin
@danb @_Davidsmith Thanks, Dan. Means a lot coming from you!
@danb 💙 So glad to hear it was helpful.
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith thank you both for 10 years of excellent insightful shows. Marco, with your extra free time I am looking forward to ATP episodes being 30 minutes longer!
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith the final “Bye” from David was heavy. I appreciate you all sharing your wisdom and experience with all of us!
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith am not a developer (wish I was!), but I listened to every episode. I liked the wisdom and insight and I feel it was applicable outside app development as well. It takes courage to end when show is at a high point. Thank you both for being there all these years.
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith oh damn. This was my favorite podcast. The only thing wrong with it was it going down to only fortnightly. :) It will be missed. Thanks for all you shared.

@marcoarment @_Davidsmith it was genuinely the only podcast that I would never skip when a new episode showed up in my queue. Thank you so much for all your insights and relatable indie dev stories. 🙏

Wishing you two all the best! The show will be missed 🥲

@marcoarment @_Davidsmith listening to Under The Radar has genuinely, no joke, been as beneficial to me as therapy in many ways. I’m sad to see it go, but also very thankful we got ten years of episodes
@shaundon 💙, so glad to hear it has been helpful to you. That was always the core, driving goal of the show.
@marcoarment I’ll really miss this show! Where else can I find you besides on ATP?
@marcoarment @_Davidsmith congrats on 10 years! I’m going to miss listening to you both. Weirdly I haven’t been listening that whole time, so I guess I’m lucky that I can go back and listen to the first few years to fill the gap for a while 😅
